Oh, that is sad. I like my kids home as long as possible. I guess they have been very good kids, I have never had a reason to ask anyone to shape up or ship out. The 2 college kids are here at home with me and I am very happy there are here!

I moved out at 18/19...I was in college in another city. Now I'm back with my parents until I get my surgery. It's a little shameful at 23, but I figure I have a pretty good exuse.

hey kiddo, don't even worry about it. i'm 26 and was staying with the folks for about 6 months until i bought my house back in July. saving up. and it is not shameful. embarrassing telling people that you're still at home, of course. but not shameful.

Usually when I hear them go "23??!!!" I whip out my school schedule and my catheter...instant sympathy! Saving up to buy a house is an EXCELLENT reason to stay at home, IMHO. Especially when a mortgage can be as much as apartment rent...so much more financially sound.

Well if Wolverine expects a show for quarters, I'm certainly not gonna do it in the pants I was wearing when I cleaned the kitchen floor. That's just not cool.

I applied for early admission to college and was accepted my sophmore year of HS. I never went back home to live. So that made me about 16.

I was 17. Moved out to go to uni in 'the city'.
Interestingly, that's quite young for Oz. Generally people live at home until they finish uni (if they can) - or at least for the first couple of years of uni. I even know of a few 30+ who live at home. naturally, most have moved out at some stage, but have moved back into save for a house or something.
Noticed that everyone that's responded so far is from the US. Seems as if it's more the norm to move out when you're still quite young???

Well good for you, T-girl! I've always suspected you were very self-suffient and independent. I, too, left home with my parent's blessings at the young age of 15. You grow up fast in Montana, and can get a driver's license at 13.
I moved into an apartment with my girlfriend. (We played like we were married) I had a good after school job, a nice car (that I bought myself), was pulling down A's and B's at school, and was saving for college so why not? I've been on my own ever since. I got homesick at first, but that faded gradually.

the ripe ol age of 17, moved our went to school , graduated, and moved my boyfriend in, got married, and should have joined the marines like I panned. The feeling of noooooooooooo rules, maybe that why I love living on my own so much?
ewww, well, the wedding date is moving up, guess I better get used to not hoggin the covers, and Jives, did I read drivers license and 13 in the same sentence, the thought of my tempermental son 13 and a 1/2 behind the wheel of a car YIKES, to much for this small brain to handle.
