The only way the government will increase money in the economy is by giving us all a brown envelope full of twenties because who is going to borrow from the banks with todays economy. I especially like how they are giving money to the banks "in the hope that banks will eventually find it easier to lend to companies and individuals"-- because they have always shown their social responsibilities and conscience in the past.

:( It's funny should post this. We have just had some policies come to fruition and normally never hear from my bank. Suddenly, we have been in-undated with letters of offers of 'help' in investing our windfall. What they seem to miss, is that we 'invested' for years and that's why they have come to fruition. Why would we want to 'invest' it again? No thanks, I'll stick to the original plan to spend the lot.
Mind you, we did get clobbered for 40% tax.
