Has anyone else out there in the garden discovered the magic and mystery that is Fungi?
Iv'e become addicted to hunting for Them, to finding and taking photos of Them!
My heart skips a beat at the sight of rotting, decomposing putrifying compost heaps and diseased and squashy slimy damp tree undergrowth! Where was I,ah yes Fungi.A most beautiful and unappreciated living art.

Very fresh hard mushrooms are delicious raw.
I love mushrooms but Im not keen on the chinese variety, it is shitaki?? as I find them slimy in the mouth
When I am cooking mushrooms and onions to add to meat I always fry a little too much so I can have a mushroom and onion buttie:p

Those large flat open top mushrooms are delicious too, stuffed with savoury rice or a cheesy mix:)

What a link, AC! Reminds me of my old botany professor, he loved fungi and talked about them for hours. (this was back in the day when there were only two kingdoms, and fungi were in the plant one, so guess what we studied alot!)

are these the type of mushroom you are all talking about. My Mother and I would go out every spring and hunt for them in forested areas in nearby farms. Love them fried in butter. Haven't had one for years and really do miss them.
