fortune tellers fake or not

Post by kath73 »

A few years ago i was really interested in tarot cards and palm reading, i spent a fortune on seeing so called fortune tellers that were fakes! was just wondering what everyone else thinks, can people see into the future or are they all just fakes?

I went to a fortune teller once and must say that I wasn't impressed. I would advice against it as it's just a waste of money that could be spent on something else worthwhile.

personally I think it's a real talent. After all...the story of the three wise men, and the witch of Endor? I dont think it's a talent that everyone has, but it's real nontheless.

That actually reminds me of something I saw in Vegas which made me laugh. They have these fortune telling machines which consist of various characters such as a wizard and a golddigger, and you're supposed to place 1 dollar to get a fortune told.

I saw this guy do it in one of the casinos, and have a guess what the machine said to him. "You are very lucky today, things will go your way so be bold and do something crazy."

Now if that isn't a lame excuse done by casinos to get people to gamble I don't know what is.

Well I agree with that Raven, I do believe that most aren't who they say they are, but somewhere some people definately do have the ability to do those kinds of things. It just a matter of finding the right people and not the con artists.

Haha that they are. The 1 fortune teller that I had kept looking down at the floor as if trying to read some pre-written script that she was trying to follow. That did make me chuckle, especially when they are no where near with their predictions :wah:

I remember seeing some program a while back when they exposed so called 'psychics' by various means. The looks on their faces when they realised that they had been had was priceless.

Did anyone see that Derryn Brown episode 'Seance' where he gathered 10 or so people of the street and supposedly contacted someone from beyond. I really thought it was real at one point during the show, only to find out at the end that it was all show.

Good program mind, the reactions of the people's faces when the objects on the table started moving was priceless!

Seeing a particular future clearly would mean we do not have free will. Therefore, at best the most powerful psychic could only see the numerous possible futures & make an educated guess at the most likely one. I do that every time I make a decision. Therefore, I am the most powerful psychic!

I try not to believe, but having read predictions from Nostradamus & Mother Shipton

it does make me question the ability to predict the future.:-3

Mother Shipton's complete prophecy....

I believe in premonitions, and that some people receive more than others. As a rule, 99 percent of the people you're going to pay for psychic advice are just people who are good at feeding off what you give them. My dad and I learned how to read palms for some silly fair booth one year...you'd be surprised how "accurate" you can be when you're being vague.

I think that that everyone has a certain level of intuition or premonition. Sometimes it is so subtle it is discounted as just using "common sense". But other times people have predicted things that actually do happen and I do think that sometimes it is legitimate ESP. I believe every human has this "6th sense" and that just some are more tuned in than others. Just like any other sense we have....(seeing, hearing, tasting...etc.) some are dull while others are very acute allowing the ability to sometimes sense the future...even when it is not desired to do so. I do think that anyone who tries to make $$ off of this is definately a fake and that there are far too many of those around!! I went to a psychic once--only to see what it was like. Took it all w/a grain of salt...

I've known a very few gifted seers. Funny thing was - none of them charged or ever tried to make a living from it. Each one told me it was a gift that was to be shared. They also never answered self serving questions like what are the lotto numbers for this week.
