Going too far???

Post by cars »

A man was denied entry onto a British Airways flight this weekend because of his tattoos. It was said, that he was told he had to cover up all his tattoos before he could board the fight. "I really am in shock they won't let me on the plane till I put long sleeves on," he said.

What do you think, did "they" go too far?:-2

From Top Celebrity Headlines » Exclusive: response from British Airways on Joel Madden tattoo incident

Earlier today Celebitchy sent a message to British Airways regarding their employee who would not let Joel Madden board a flight until he covered his tattooed arms.

She sent the following message to British Airways Public Relations via e-mail and are waiting for a response:

Dear British Airways public relations,

On a Saturday flight from Heathrow to Lisboa, Portugal, rocker Joel Madden was told by a British Airways staff member to cover up his arm tattoos before boarding. Madden has tattoos of religious figures on both of his forearms. He quietly complied with the request although he told the BA person that he felt he was being discriminated against. Madden immediately posted this on his Twitter, which has nearly 100,000 followers.

Does British Airways have a policy of making all airline passengers cover visible tattoos or was this an isolated incident? Will the staff member who did this be disciplined if it was not in accordance with airline policy?

(Sent via e-mail to BA Public Relations)

In the article, Celebitchy proposed that it was likely just the one British Airways employee who had an attitude problem instead of an actual policy by the airline. Not surprisingly, she was correct. We just got a response from BA.

Katie,

British Airways does not have a policy against tattoos.

We are speaking to the staff member involved.

Totally too far.

Person needs to be re-educated.

Notice his tat's are Christian based would she have dared object had they been other belief based? I wonder...

-Joel Madden, is a huge well known celebrity and an awesome singer......from seeing his tattoos, he should HAVE NEVER been denied access to the air craft.

Just a thought two weeks ago a guy in Groningen NL was fined for insulting behaviour to a police officer.

In the back of his neck he had the tattoo A.C.A.B. police said it stands for All Cops Are Bastards.

The man in question said it stood for Acht Cola Acht Bier (8 cola 8 beer)

He still had to pay the fine though.

So presumably he's to be fined every day until he has the tattoo removed?

In a country that does not have English as its native language it is quite a jump to insist that their interpretation of the acronym must be the one intended by the wearer - against his insistence otherwise.

A good Credible tattoo artist would never release offensive art like that. Tis a shame there are idiots out there who will tattoo anything.

Tattoos are artwork and a good tattoo bodes well for the artist.

Tattoo's are ones personal art and if they are an homage to ones religious beliefs so be it. I could see it being offensive if it were anti religious or say a swastika.

OMG what is this world coming too. So I suppose if he had the same art on a tshirt he would have been asked to remove it?????:-5

Its completely acceptable to express ones self with tats princess.

Before a full blown long drawn out FG battle begins maybe we could re-examine your sadness over oscars tatoos. I sense there are some hard gritty sentiments festering. Lets discuss ok ?
