I'm just glad it was that easy, cause if it was beyond that, I wouldn't have looked so smart. ;)

Dear Abbey,

Are you the Agony Aunt I used to read in the 1950's?

Just a joke from an old man.

Please don't feel awful asking a question that was answered simply.

For a while I left the high seas to join a power station in Hong Kong and found myself completely at sea! I could hardly understand what all the machinery was doing except in a general way.

"Just ask" I was frequently told and even now half a century later I can remember my completely unrehearsed reply. "If I don't know what I don't know how can I ask?"

Silence followed.

I still think I was right because the next few months were a nightmare to me and after a year or two I made it a point to tell new comers what I DID KNOW without them having to ask.

I have recently dipped my toes into scanning and digital photography and like you I am completely baffled at times because I download from my tiny camera and the pictures then vanish.

Sometimes I meet them occasionally in passing but usually don't act quickly enough to trap them and print them.

All I can suggest is to keep at it - like learning to drive a car you WILL PASS YOUR DRIVING TEST IN THE END.

God bless.

randall.
