Weirdest pet you ever owned?

Post by hoppy »

Once while fishing, i found a baby snapping turtle. He was about as big as a silver dollar. Took him home, put him in a glass baking dish with water and a flat rock for him to rest on. Liked to watch him eat. I would feed him raw meat bits stuck on a toothpick. He would stick his neck out and grab the meat with his beak of a mouth and swallow it.

I asked one of my kids to change his water one day. Instead of using creek water, they used tap water. The chemicals in it killed him.:(

Ferrets do stink but they are so much fun to watch. We started out with one, bought another, then was given 2 more. 4 ferrets in one house are way too much. A friend of mine took all 4 much to my relief. My husband is diabetic and they would go for his feet of course.

we had 2 turtles for quite a long time. The female was nasty we took her outside on our front lawn and when confronted by the neighbors cat she promptly bit it on the nose :yh_rotfl

you know if given the right size tank those babies will grow to be quite large ours grew to be about 6" in diameter. They were cool pets.

I owned a unicorn but it ran away so now I keep hippos. You know like you get indoor cats, well these are indoor hippos. I was thinking of buying a cat but that would be TOO wei:rolleyes:rd

Hubby and I have raised a turtle for the past 10 years. He has grown from a half-dollar size to hand size. We feed him regular turtle food from the store. Pellets..

Cleaning out his home is easier with a portable hose and a small water pump. Hubby bathes him. The turtle tolerates the baths but pouts afterward for awhile.

I call the turtle, "Buddy". I pick him up slowly and carefully from his rear. We are friends. As soon as my camera is returned to me after repairs, I will show you his picture. I've already told you about him. Show and Tell.

Thank you.:)

A lot of people would find it weird that I am terrified of snakes yet allow my son to have one for a pet in my house. It was a graduation gift. :-5 Lots of heavy books on the lid to keep it where it belongs. :wah: ;)
