today i would like to bring to your attention a piece written by fellow columnist jhon gaunt regarding the diabolical treatment at heathrow of a visiting guest to our country by hm immigration service.
WE'RE getting some great stories on SunTalk but none has angered me more than the report of how Aussie Jodi Dawes was deported from our green and pleasant land.
Now, as you know, I am firmly in favour of strict immigration and border controls but how the hell can we let in every Tom, Dick and Abdul but refuse entry to a girl who just wanted to come over to celebrate her best mate's wedding?
Jodi arrived at Heathrow and was held and interrogated for 11 hours.
She was then forcibly escorted to a plane and deported back to Sydney for not having a tourist visa.
This was despite the fact she had a return ticket, proof of being invited to Katie Alexander's wedding and someone who was willing to put up money as security to prove that she wouldn't overstay.
Katie told me: "Part of Jodi's reason for coming here was because she has never met my daughters, who are two and seven months.
"She didn't even get to see them for a second. I am so mad because it seems that lots of illegal immigrants get into Britain but a decent, genuine person like Jodi can't."
Criminal
And Jodi said: "I was treated like a criminal. I was going to stay with Katie for a couple of weeks before going on a 33-day trip round Europe which I paid over £4,000 for. Then I was going to fly back to Australia.
"I had all the tickets and my bank statements to show I had enough money to support my trip but they wouldn't listen."
Meanwhile when the illegals jump out of the lorry at Watford Gap, the coppers greet them not with a pair of handcuffs and a one-way ticket home but a map and instructions in 15 different languages directing them to Lunatic House in Croydon and a lifetime of hot and cold running benefits.
Perhaps Jodi should have "lost" her passport, not understood English, asked for an interpreter or a doctor for a week-old gunshot wound, kicked in the TV in the holding room or set fire to the premises as a protest.
Just like the Gurkhas, it appears those in control of immigration (I use the term very loosely) would rather let in those who want to leech off us at best and preach hatred at worst than those who have real connections and an affinity with us and our ways.
And Jodi only wanted to visit It makes me ashamed to be British.

what a diabolical way to treat a tourist the head of hm immigration and customs should make a unreserved apology to the austrailian government and to jodi dawes herself.
refund her £4,000 airfare and compensate her for the inconvienience caused and
those responsible should be carpeted that is the least we could do.
it is wrong how illegal immigrants and overstayers get kid glove treatment yet those who wish to visit our country are treated like criminals by the hm gestapo.
i hope ms dawes persues this further.

An estimated figure for illegal immigrants for 2008 was close to 400,000. That's the illegals.....
Legal immigrants arriving here claiming benifit and free housing is put at 1.5 million over the last ten years (Yes i can give links if called for.)
Then we treat a tourist like this?????? Not just a tourist but a member of the british Commonwealth.
We need to take a serious stance on this now before it's all horribly too late.

Forget about the train hangers and the lorry lurkers, how do you think most illegals enter ?
They fly in to attend their Uncle's/Aunty's/ Cousin's (you name it) wedding/Funeral/ Birthday/Christianing (you name it).......or just on holiday.
When a person enters and thereafter rapes/ murders/ robs a bank/ (you name it) and it transpires they were a villain in the country they came from, who takes the flak ?
Mr Pantoandy would still be whinging......thats what he is good at.
