A MUM and her poorly toddler were turfed off Supertram - because she was just 13p short of the full fare.
Kerry Sheridan, from Malin Bridge, Sheffield, was travelling home with 23-month-old Katelyn home after they'd visited Sheffield Children's Hospital for important medical tests.
The mum-of-two discovered she had just £1.27 in her purse - just short of the £1.40 cost of the journey.
Kerry said she explained the error to the female conductor but was shocked when the woman replied "you're walking", pressed the stop buzzer on the tram and ordered them to get off at the Shalesmoor stop.
The 27-year-old, who had no other cash or credit cards with her, said: "I had £1.27 in my purse - it took me 45 minutes to walk home.
"What annoyed is that I always pay my fares, I'm not one of those people who tries to dodge the fare. If I see the conductor coming I will catch their eye and pay.
"It was her attitude that upset me. She was very unsympathetic and it was embarrassing being told to get off in front of all the other passengers and told 'your walking'."
Kerry put her error down to having had a stressful time at Sheffield Children's Hospital, where Katelyn had been undergoing tests that morning.
The toddler who was born three months premature was being assessed to see if she has Cystic Fibrosis, a life-long genetic condition which causes lung and digestive problems.
Sufferers have a life-expectancy of around 35 years and have to take daily medication and have regular checks ups.
"It was a stressful day and I had so much on my mind I just didn't realise when I got on that I didn't have the full fare," said Kerry.
"I just don't want to think that someone else would go through a similar experience."
The couple are still waiting to find out the results of the tests.
Now Kerry and her husband Mark, 36, have put in a formal complaint to Supertram.
They said the company has come back and told them the conductor did make a mistake and should have issued them with a ticket so Kerry could have paid the excess cost at a different time.

this just goes to show that the privatised companies put passengers before profit and treats its passengers like cattle.
this conductress needs to go back to customer service school after a good wigging by the management.
still this is typical of the stagecoach company the majority of its staff are ignorant oafs anyway.
it also shows what meanies there are in sheffield not one passenger offered to stump up the 13p so the lady and her children could continue their journey.
