Fallen EMS Brother

Post by devist8me »

The EMS family in this area lost a life 2 days ago. He was working an accident on Hwy 13 when a car struck him that was driving through the accident scene. Keep him in your hearts and his family in your prayers. This comes just 2 weeks after a State Trooper (also a good friend) was struck and killed by a car as he was investigating the scene of a quadruple fatality accident on the interstate nearby.

Please folks, slow down when you see emergency workers on the side of the road doing their job. And please, don't gawk.

So sad.. Yes it's a dangerous job, but made much more dangerous by iditot drivers that don't pay attention, are talking on their flippin cells phones weaving all over the road, and gawkers... :-1

We have have several police officers killed by drivers who just slammed into them. One officer lost both his legs from the knees down. Came back to the force, but has now since retired due to the physical pain.

No one pulls over anymore when they hear sirens. They just go on about their drive, or talking on the phone, or listening to their radios so damn loud they couldn't hear them anyway..:-5

Thursday I pulled up to an intersection they light had just turned red. The idiot behind me didn't like that and jumped in the oncome lanes and took off through the intersection, almost caused an accident.

I watched him go up to the next intersection all of 100 feet away, it turned red just as he approached, once again he jumped into on coming traffic and ran the red light..Really makes me angry I tried to catch him, but I had to stop for the lights..

I hate when people don't at least stop. If you can't pull over, get as far to the side as you can and just STOP. Geez. It takes three seconds.

Here in California it's pull to the right and stop, too. Few do it.

That's theoretically what you're supposed to do here. We have a lot of rural roads and you're supposed to pull onto the shoulder and stop completely. Sometimes you're in stopped two lane traffic however, and you're at a light or something and you can't get out of the way. In those situations they want you to just stop where you are...then you can see where the ambulance or cop is headed and they can see you and angle out if necessary, and if not, then you're not accidently scooting in their way.

Did anybody see the story of the woman who went to put her 2 yr old on a bus and right as she handed child over, she was pushed over/trampled so she did not get on the bus and it pulled away w/out her?? Saw the story last night and as it stands she still can't find her child. The bus was bound for Houston I believe and it had been over 24 hrs before a state trooper was finally alerted to this and did something. He put her and her other son and their dog in his patrol car and personally took her there himself but there was still no word.....

That's so scary! I hope another passenger is holding onto the child for safety until they find the right authorities to contact.
