Your prayers and kind thoughts please.

Post by Imladris »

Last Tuesday I got a phone call from my Dad telling me that my 92 year old Nan's carer couldn't get in to her flat and could I go round to make sure she's ok.

I found her on the floor wedged between her bed and the wall. She was breathing but unconscious. I called an ambulance and she was taken to hospital.

We've been told that she has had a stroke and a massive heart attack, she also had a lot of fluid on the lungs. They said they would make her comfortable, treat her with antibiotics but let nature take it's course. We agreed that my fiercely independent nan would hate lingering on with little dignity and no chance of recovery. The family hoped for a swift end to this final illness.

She's still fighting - stubborn old so and so! She's regained some speech but can't make herself understood very well, she can't be given any food or water as she can't swallow and is obviously quite uncomfortable and a bit distressed.

Her mind is still active - she's checking up that her hairdresser's appointment is cancelled and the cleaner too!!

I'm asking for your prayers for her, we don't think there is any chance of her getting her health back and she'll never go home again. My darling, wonderful Nan needs to pass away quickly with little pain, God willing.

Please remember her in your prayers.

Still fighting. Perhaps she herself has got hope. Consider all angles. Best wishes.

Sending my love and prayers to you, your nan and your family sweetheart. Although it's a painful time for you all at least you have some time to say your goodbyes and give her your love. If only we could all pass surrounded by our loved ones, knowing they love us in return. Your nan is blessed. :-4 :-4 :yh_hugs :yh_hugs :yh_hugs

My darling Nan passed away peacefully this morning. The last few days she'd been deteriorating and she was on a morphine drip this weekend. She just slipped away in her sleep. I shall always be thankful for that.

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts they have meant the world to me. xxx

Thanks again guys.

I'm just dipping in and out of here at the moment, so busy with work and family stuff when I have any spare time I'm just soo tired!!

Your kind thoughts and words are really uplifting and are gratefully received.

And yes, I do have wonderful memories, too many to share and just a bit too poignant at the moment, maybe one day.
