I would ride my racing bike to my friends house, then we'd swap bikes. She had a cool BMX and I'd spend all day practising tricks and riding it down steps like a nutter. I'm not sure how I never ended up in hospital.

We'd be given money to go to the outdoor swimming pool that had lifeguards, but we weren't stupid, money for the swimming pool was far better spent in the shop on the way to the beach where we'd spend the day instead. We were soon caught out though and season tickets for the pool were bought and handed to us, the beach was banned without an adult being in our company :wah:

I recall playing french cricket or tennis in the streets and smashing a few windows.

Climbing into neighbours gardens and scrumping their apples.

Climbing trees, making hideouts and camps in my mates back garden, hiding away from our parents when they were calling us in for tea :wah:

...I'm going to stop now as it's just making me realise what a little blighter I was :o

When I didn't have chores to do I rode my bike around, followed Ike whenever I could, Hung out with the Hooker boys from down the road, shot sparrows and pigeons in our barns, dug thistles out of the pastures, played in our creek, drank beer when I could find any, fished, read comic books and library books when dad went to the library. I loved loitering around there. Went to church on Sundays because I had to. Lots more. I was never bored, unlike todays snotwad kids.:D

It is different times Hoppy kids today can't play outside like we did just safe or they are latch key kids with no mothers at home.

We grew up in a great era right after the war. Dad's went to work mom's stayed home with the kids, just the way it was. My mother didn't go to work till we were a grown.

You played outside till you had to go in. Then got up and did the same thing the next day we walked every where. Kids today can't do that they need to be driven to their soccer, baseball, football or any sports activities as they are all over the cities and towns. In a way I feel sorry for them, they will never know the freedom we had as kids the pure joy of being outside all day long just goofing off and having fun.

Hey, TYFBSANN, How many times did you get gobsmacked for pulling panties down?

I was the "Jacks" champ of our neighborhood. Oh, and going to the free wading pool, until I got banned for a week for throwing one of the bullie's shoes in the toilet.

Well played jacks, two balls, against the nieghbours wall til they went mad from the noise tim tam tommy, cannon, cricket , run outs, knock down ginger, mucking about in Richmond park paddeling in beverly brook ( it was clean back then) In the evenings we would hole up somewhere scaring the crap out of each other with ghost stories.

Then being the swot I was I would take a group off to the museums up in south Kensington or to see the mummies at the british museum we would go hiking in the park or wimbledon common and when I was 14 I went off for 3 days to Epping forest youth hosteling with a group of people I met via via.

Almost none of this would be allowed these days its all too dangerous...:(

Ride bikes, sleep overs in tents in the back yards, sneaking out onto the Indian reserve and building tree forts to play in, playing kick the can, raiding gardens, sneaking into old abandon houses along the resevoir, as we got older we got worse, skinny dipping in the outdoor pool, floating on rafts down the river drinking, bush parties just outside city limits drinking... yeah high school is still school time hehehehe

Also lots of camping with the family.
