As most of you know I gutted a 100 year old house last year. When I did the master suite I did not have a door put on the master bathroom. You can't see the toilet from the bedroom so WTF. My thought was "What is the Point" and it looked cool without a door - all bullnose and rounded entries. It would just me and my spouse in there and it was going to add $500.00. Well we had a party today and the guest bath got a little line going so I sent the guests to the master bathroom. I told them to close the bedroom door for privacy but I got a comment from everyone! Dang - it's MY bathroom........:-5

Pooh on guests who would make comments about the facilities. My brother installed a phone is his bathroom-the big business man-it was the joke of the family to use his bathroom when we visited. My kids would get in there for hours calling their friends, telling them they would never guess where they were calling from!

in england its a bonus to have an upstairs and a downstairs toilet! as for having an ensuite.... well youd have really made it then!
life is what you make it

When you have teenagers in the house, no amount of bathrooms will give you one to yourself-they are always occupied by teenager!

Hahahahaha I love it ahahaha

Yep your house your ways tough luck for the rest.

My ex cousin's husbands mother (yes really) had a mere curtain on her biffy door as well she insisted all men sit to pee, and guess what she went so far as to listen (no door she could tell if you stood or sat) and she would yell at the men to sit. OOOOOO so tell your guests that one.

We gutted a 140 year old house in early 1990's and we put a door on the master bathroom after quite a discussion about it and I'm glad I did. When we have all the adult kids and their families home, that sometimes can become my santuary. I think if you do not want a door and like the look, hang the rest of them.

You are not alone, the house we are just about finished building (yes, yes, yes)

-Our master suite is just like yours, no bathroom door, the toilet is next to the hot tub. You go girl!!!!!!!!!!

-one word and they are never invited back, or you could be a b^&*% and go to their house and comment on how all the colors clash, just to psyc, them out.

I'll come with ya, it'll be fun.

There are 3 full baths in this house. The only one without a door is the master. I told them that........and like I said, it is the master - me and my hubby use it and we are a little familiar with each other. ;) I just thought it weird that people would make comments on how we choose to live our private lives.

NO DOOR ON THE BATHROOM! And to think I thought you were civilized!:(

But seriously, it's not that big of a deal. My best friend's house is the same way. But I still feel a little "weird' when I go in there. I mean, what if someone just walks in? (They don't have a door on the bedroom either)

But since most of the time I'm at their house, I'm at one of their parties, and I'm drunk, so I usually don't give a damn.:o

I think the no door thing isn't just for older homes anymore. 2 years ago, hubby and I looked at several houses and 2 that I remember for sure had no door on the master bathroom. Both doors were rounded too, not squared off....does that make sense? Anyway, standard doors wouldn't work if we ever wanted to put one on and we would probably have to have one special made. I seriously thought about the bead thing to and made the mistake of mentioning it in passing to my hubby, who just shook his head and walked away LOL.

At any rate, we bought a house with a door on the MB, only because I hate cold bathrooms in the morning and heat from the shower keeps the bathroom warm with a door closed.

At any rate, tell your friends to wait in line for the bathroom with a door next time or have someone keep watch at the other bathroom. It would be nothing for me to hollar "occupied" as I heard someone approaching though.
I probably posted that in an ambien trance-soryy

Yep we put bullnose on every corner AND the dorrway was an old wide window - didn't fit any standard door size. DANG - if you can't do your bathroom thing/shower with your mate - does that mean you get undressed in the dark?? :wah:

You have two other bathrooms with doors on them. That's more than enough doors.. Your master bedroom is your private bath, to bad if they didn't like it... there is alway the gas station down the street next time..:-5

I rather like master baths with no doors, I have seen some with sliding door that vanish on one side, or meet in the middle and vanish on both sides..;)
