Guess who just phoned Odie!
I answered the phone and the person said, Joan?
I said yes, who's calling please?
He used his real name, so I had nooooooooooo idea who it was!:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl
It was Mikeinie!:-6:-6
He has been in Toronto since he and his wife and two girls landed Tuesday!
They are staying with relatives just a 20 minutes drive from me and are having a fabulous time!:guitarist:guitarist:guitarist
He loves our heat-wave of 30C all week, as he used to live in Toronto and misses our hot summers!.....I told him he was crazy as he sat in an air conditioned home!:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl
They leave Monday for Banff, which is in the province of Alberta in Canada, he has been there before but his family hasn't......so they will really enjoy seeing our mountains and huge park.
We talked about so much and it was so nice to him to phone me, its just great hearing a friendly voice from Ireland!
thanks Mikeinie, a day I shall never forget!:-4

Lady Cop used to call me. That really freaked me out. Making that leap from you guys being my toys to a real person is just too shocking for me.

Oh, and should I mention dear Nomad has such a lovely voice on the phone......
That was a trip that time, with everything going on. I still wish that lovely lady involved would have stopped by for a visit. I hope she does one day.

Ok, Oscar. I have just this minute dialled the number as given in your post - 00747 558652. I was finally answered with a recording telling me that the number is not recognised.
The reason I didn't expect this number to work is because there is no number that can be dialled from the UK that begins 00. Also, mobile phones start with the digits 07. Not James Bond.

I don't know where 011 comes from. There is absolutely no reason for me to dial as if I'm calling a UK mobile from outside of the UK. The number after the 44 is still wrong.

011 is the code Americans use to dial out of America, so you wouldn't use it OM.
(I was talking to Odie really, although from Canada she might need a different code again.)
You're right, the number was wrong, but Oscar's corrected it now. :-6
I can see Oscar's gonna be gettin' no sleep tonight! :wah:
I just hope no one puts your number in lots of London phoneboxes Oscar, or you'll have a lot of men phoning you up for your services!

I will be in the take-away again tomorrow evening but no sweat as my job is to read the Daily Mail and call the police when needed. Occassionally i have to translate drunken Bristolian into Turkish but that's about it. I shall have my phone with me. Can't wait.

Look, i can speak some and i can understand some. I can't read Turkish :yh_rotfl I know what the first word means.
I love teaching them English when they first come over. I told one poor girl that 'Lovely jubbly' meant 'Hello, how are you'. She was saying it for weeks to strangers :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl Tonight i've been trying to explain the concept of a tea strainer to one.
