:) Welcome back, Duckie. So sorry about the demise of your washing machine.

My washing machine is a "Roper" brand. I've used it for several years. No frills. So far so good.

Isn't it a pain in the butt when household appliances die? :-5

I replaced mine about a year ago with a Hotpoint which works perfectly. I had a Beko before that because it was a bit cheaper and it never worked properly! That's one brand I would never recommend! :-5

Good luck in your search for a replacement. :-6

I've had a Kenmore for over ten years, and a matching dryer. A workhorse, I had up to 10 loads a day for the first two years my husband was ill. Still is working great.

A front-end loader is a piece of mining machinery - are you sure you want that in your kitchen? I *know* it won't be good for your underwear.

I don't think it matters much what the brand is, as long as it's got a drum which periodically reverses when it washes - if it doesn't do this, the washing has a tendency to roll up, and not get washed or rinsed properly - and when it spins, *oh!* The *noise*!

That Peter sure is a great guy... he's not a Dick at all, contrary to what I've heard from certain folks here on FG... :D

Sounds like you got a lemon.

You've gotta' go with the front loaders... LG is good and so is Kenmore. You might want to upgrade your old dryer, though... make it match and all. ;)

Why not look on the Good Housekeeping website and see what they recommend.

GHI Accredited products :: Homes :: All About You

We've just replaced our dishwasher that died with a new one from Bosch, the repairman recommended it as it's easy to reprogramme if it goes wrong. Not the same I know but the advice my apply to washers too.

Ok, staying away from the GE's & anything that starts with the letter B...going with a whirlpool/kenmore...hunting for that for 3 days...got it for just under $450...on clearance. Of course, I have to get the flatbed truck and drive to Delaware but its tax free also...not bad.

Hint: If you go to Home Depot and they have the same brand as the one you bought they will beat that by 10%
