dog owners here take their dogs out for walks in 25 and 30C weather, its to damn hot for an animal.......if your hot, your dog is going to be so much hotter!:-5:-5
just a short walk is fine, but nothing more
and don't ever ever leave your dog in a car while you are off somewhere!!:-5:-5:-5:-5

Our dog is a German Shepherd and he's over 12 years old (a rescue dog at 8!). He is epileptic and has arthritis, but regardless of this he thinks he is only 4 years old !
This week he has had his daily walks, but he has been carried by car to some nearby woods. Water has been taken along so he can have regular drinks, and today he was showered with water as soon as he got out of the car. He so loves his daily walks and it would be a shame to not take him. We make sure that he goes in the early evening when the heat of the day has subsided somewhat, and he is perfectly comfortable walking then.
It is not difficult to make different arrangements for your pet, in adverse weather conditions is it? Our dog, Rex, has not panted at all, today, as we have been keeping the sitting room cool with a very efficient fan, and having the windows wide open but the rest of the windows blanked out by our curtains. It is the coolest room in the house ! We have a very acceptable breeze blowing today which is helping no end!
Could do with some steady rain now
Think we'll have to struggle through another very warm night before rain is forecast for tomorrow morning !

I have adjusted the times I walk the dogs so that they are out in the cooler hours during the midday I just let them have a pee in the garden they have extra water and a fan.
Even in winter I make sure I have water with me if we go to the common in the car.
Oscar and Remy dont mind water so I can spray them but Benny is terrified of water so I take a wet cloth and just bathe his paws and cool his tummy off..
The precations are really no more than you would take for yourself or your child.

Mine have a paddling pool, just a regular one you get for kids. To cool a dog down best make sure the chest and tummy are wet. Also buy a solid plastic one as they tend to burst the blow up one's :wah:
