We drove out to a little place called 'Limply Stoke' just outside Bath and baited a swim on the River Avon ready for him to go fishing for Barbel tomorrow. Wow, it was just way too hot. They estimated 30 degrees where we were.

Then we went to the cafe on the canal and paid £5.50 for two cups of tea and one piece of cake !!!! The tourists must be here

Then on to another fishing beauty spot called 'Claverton' just outside Bath that was heaving in anglers. He decided to bait a swim further up the bank which involved walking through four cow fields, under the railway line and back up the bank. I am exhausted.

Kennet and Avon Canal below Limpley Stoke Bridge:: OS grid ST7861 :: Geograph British Isles - photograph every grid square!

Beautiful scenery though and a lovely day with my husband.

I'm coming fishing to!:sneaky: :wah: I'm off in the morning to my my brothers and will probably stay overnight. They are fore-casting torrential rain and thunderstorms for tomorrow now :-5 Pete won't fish in that if it's really bad but he may get a couple of hours in.

We are certainly blessed for the area we live around as spots like that are a short drive away. It was so peaceful. :-6:-6

I hope your visit to your brother will be a good one. I have just got home as i am looking after the take-away tonight. I didn't want to come home but i will go back for a full week very shortly.

Looks like he'll be in hospital for a long time but we are just gratefull in a way as it could have been far worse as he was in 'race' speed at the time when she fell. I went to see her while i was down very briefly and she seems fine. The vet gave her a thorough going over yesterday.

Pete told me he went out early to the foxes last night as he wanted an early night. Because he went early, there was only 3 foxes out there at the time, one of which was the newbie. She managed to get in there and get some food so i'm really pleases about that. He also caught every fish going yesterday but not one single Barbel :wah:

Off to the take-away soon. God, i'm tired !!!

oh poor newbie!:( I pray they are not crossing the main road to get to the landfill sight. To be honest, i have no idea where they go. My theory is that there are other food sources in the area. I know they all come at some point in the night as the large amount of food i leave on the ground is always gone by the morning. I hope she turns up tomorrow night. I was late going going out to them tonight. my pack leader showed up but a few were missing tonight. It may just be the case that i missed them. I will let you know as soon as i see her.

So true as they would have other sources of food, and obviously some nights they aren't hungry if they have just eaten elsewhere....and who knows, maybe someone else is also feeding them.

Pete actually stopped the car one night three streets away from us and said to this fox 'Clarkson, what are you doing here?' :wah: I think it's the natural instinct to hunt that sends them off occassionally to look elsewhere. In the pack of around 15 foxes that we have, anything from 4 to 12 will show up each night.

The pack leader is named after a tv presenter called 'Clarkson' , then his vixen is called 'Mrs clarkson'. The pack leader is very distinct from the others in that he's larger, is red with white right down under his chin and has a large white tip on the end of his tail. Even in the pitch dark, i know it's him as he comes the closest to me and will stand right next to my legs. I hope newbie is out there tonight.

Yes, i get quite annoyed when they bugger off elsewhere. We spend £5 a day on chicken plus all the left overs from the take-away and the delivery i get from the deli. :wah:

An interesting and imformative morning here in Oscar's Lane.

I have complained on here many times about the growing anti-social behaviour in our lovely village. Normally, at the mere sight of a police officer, my hackles go up but i also wrote recently of an officer who screeched up with the blue's and two's, leapt out of his car and said to a bunch of drug dealing hoodies outside my house 'Right you lot, *uc* Off now or i'll nick the lot of you for a section 5 public order offence'. The next morning i had a phone call from the stations Inspector apologising profusely that it took 3 and a half hours to get us a car after two did attend but went to the wrong end of the street and missed the lane.

This morning, the officer phoned and asked if it was ok to pop round for a chat. He was here quite soom time and we were very civil towards him under the circumstances and even made him coffee. Puppy did make a heck of a mess of his uniform though determined to be as much as a nuisence as possible :wah:

Anyway, he revealed to us that there is a gang of teenagers coming into the village from other area's. The police even have a name for them which i can not write here as that was quite confidential. The gang is now 50 strong and responsible for giving our police a major headache in the way of robbings, muggings, criminal damage and beating up local kids including some serious assaults. I have a glimmer of sympathy for this officer as he said he was so frustrated with government guide-lines that stop the police dealing with anti-social arssewipes like this in the manner they would like to. They are also dangerousley under-manned with only 6 units for the whole county which i am well aware of from previous problems in the village.

Something seriously has to change. The policing needs a major over-haul in this country.

I am just waiting now for a guy to come round and set my new lap top up.

oh isn't he just the nicest man alive? Yes he is and we share many interests mostly agreeable political views. I told him tonight that if i talked about politics to Pete for 3 hours, his eyes would have glazed over and he'd be asleep in the first ten minutes. I off-loaded some crap on him as well and he's a very good listener. I had to finally hang up to shut the dogs up barking at the foxes in the garden.

We should start a new story thread called 'toothless in Toronto and Gormless in Great Britain. The peeps could add to the story as it goes a long :wah:
