AP - Walter Cronkite, the premier TV anchorman of the networks' golden age who reported a tumultuous time with reassuring authority and came to be called "the most trusted man in America," died Friday. He was 92.
Sad news. He was a brilliant news man.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.
WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

RIP Mr. Cronkite. I remember well the TV report he made of Pres. Kennedys death. Poor man was in tears. He was a wonderful and real person. So sad to hear the news.

There's a wonderful tribute to Walter Cronkite on CBS's Sunday Morning today. One of the things I didn't realize about him is that the first interview with the Beatles was on the CBS Evening News With Walter Cronkite BEFORE their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. I also watched his tearful, lump-in-the-throat announcement of Kennedy's assasination. He made the statement, "Anchormen shouldn't cry," when he spoke of John-John saluting his father's coffin.
You were truly one of a kind, Walter and you will be missed. RIP

This was a very nice tribute on my favorite program, Sunday Morning. The entire show was dedicated to Walter Cronkite. There will be an hour long tribute on CBS tonight at 7pm E/6pm Central.
One thing I was reminded of was his great love for the space program and his coverage of that day 40 years ago when Neil Armstrong took his historic first step on the moon. The film clip showed the actual footage of it. I was working in a health club in Pittsburgh (fittingly known as The Starship Spa) on that day in July. Dressed in a micro-mini and go-go boots, this Trekkie had gone into the juice bar to witness the actual coverage on the tv which was behind the bar (alongside Brutus, the 3 year old Bengal tiger. I cried when I saw the landing and said, "Yippee! I knew it! I always knew it!" Walter was cheering too, as was a multitude of people.
A nice tribute from John Glenn followed Sunday Morning. And the one tonight should be good for "The most trusted man in America."
