Parents must sign contracts that their children will behave

Parents will be forced to sign school contacts to ensure their children behave | Mail Online

What a complete waste of time and money from Ed Balls after youth crime rates are already out of control? So the kid mis-behaves, then what?

This is no different to the effect of ASBO's and good behaviour contracts youths make with the police. They mean nothing in this day.

First they take the right to discipline kids away from schools, then they take the right to discipline kids away from parents, then they take the right to discipline kids away from the police, then they wonder why kids are undisciplined¦. And want them to sign contracts¦.

Here is an idea, put discipline back into the schools, let parents discipline their kids, let the police do their jobs¦.

Here is an idea, put discipline back into the schools, let parents discipline their kids, let the police do their jobs…. Yes, and add to that, hand back education into control of the schools and govenors and not the t*ats in Whitehall.

I agree with this. Parents just don't have a clue some-times what their kid is doing when out, who with and where they are.

Having read the article - the unclean feeling will pass given time - I'm not at all sure of what "forced" means in this context. In what way is force employed?

First, the word 'Forced'. Some parents laugh in the face of the law now, how can they 'force' anyone to sign what would be a legally binding contract presentable in a court of law, if the signee did not agree with the contents of the contract. That's surely a breach of human rights is it not to 'force' a legally binding contract onto the un-willing.

Another Gestapoesque element here is the encouragement for 'good' mums to snoop, pry and report findings on other children.

I agree with this. Parents just don't have a clue some-times what their kid is doing when out, who with and where they are.

Um oscy baby, my middle sons school and my eldest son's school (different schools, both high schools), have contracts at the beginning of every year that the kids have to sign. all punishments are there on paper so everyone knows what will happen if they break one of the rules. In class and class disruptions = yellow cards and red cards depending on the number of times you keep talking or disrupting the others and when it's time to be sent to the principles office.

Then there are rules about the school yard which entails suspension and expelling. For instance, if your friend gets into a fight you are not allowed to break it up, if you do you will be suspended. The rule is to acquire help from a staff member.

I'd also like to mention that most of the boys around here are farmers boys, it's not uncommon to see six foot 13 year olds...........and I can assure you these boys are flogged at home....................dosen't change them from being boys though and they will fight

Ummm Megan baby, i actually think that system is a good idea as the punishment is the onus on the child. It is this nonsence that the government here wants to 'force' parents to sign 'legally binding' contracts that could land them in a criminal court if their child mis-behaves and the encouraging mums to turn into a Nazi by spying and snooping on what kids do even when they are out of school, such as if they are going to bed too late.

This is a get out from our government. As Mike said, they stripped the rights of parents, schools, and authorities to deal with disruptive kids and now youth crime is out of control, they are doing too little too late. This is like trying to stop a charging Rhino by throwing a baked bean at it. Pathetic waste of government money and time.
