Beat up on cops

Post by hoppy »

It must be "beat up on cops" week here, judging from the anti police threads. My area had two shooting incidents involving police in a three day period just last week.

1. Some thug with a long record of anti social behaviour including some serious assaults, beat up a coffee shop worker. A cop saw the thug, and approached him. Thug became threatening, cop tasered thug who shrugged it off, knocked cop down and began chocking cop while slamming cop's head into the pavement. Cop shot and killed thug. Cop spent a few days in hospital. He's still on medical leave.

2. Deputy was answering a disturbance call at at house. Man answered the door carrying a hatchet. He refused to drop it, finally lunging at the deputy. Deputy shot him but not dead.

My cousin was a city cop, then a deputy for a long time. After hearing his stories there is no way in hell I would want their job.

I watch a few US cop shows here like FBI files and there is one that shows Shocking crime caught on camera. I have to say that our police forces are very different. If I found the stats of Police deaths and assaults in the line of duty for the US and Britain, there would no doubt be a remarkable difference. We do not have guns here and serious assault or death to a police officer is relatively rare here as Spot pointed out recently on another thread.

From what I see of Cops in the US, I am in awe of the dangers they face every day. They truely are hero's. No-on here will take that away from US cops not even Spot. They are in a class of their own compared to some of the apathetic plods in this country who cry over a paper cut. Some stand around drinking tea talking about health and safety while a child drowns. The police then blame the child. I take my hat off to your cousin and all the police in your country. :-6

I totally agree hoppy, i have many friends in the police and you cannot even begin to explain how difficult the job is. This forum has a few members who dont like the police much.

Then i suggest you actually read members posts instead of selective scanning.

All members here have at some point on some thread said that they support the police in a difficult job. I made a post today that I took collar numbers so I could ring central control to praise 2 officers who deserved it very recently. Our police are desperately under-funded as I said on a recent Interview with Edwina Currie's partner, MP for Kensington. We give praise where praise is due. You do not get respect by demand because you happen to wear the same uniform as officers who do a praise worthy job. In any area of employment, you will get a few arsseholes who drag down the good reputation of the force and destroy the credibility of their colleague's.

I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

http://www.nleomf.com/MidYearReport/200 ... Report.pdf

I am horrified at this report Hops.... and this is cop fatalities in just six months of this year. I haven't looked at injurie stats in the US yet either.

BBC NEWS | UK | Killed in the line of duty

Only 37 police officers have been killed in the line of duty in the past 20 years in Britain.

That's why US cops have the admiration of the world.

And, it seems that the police have quite a few members that the public are not very fond of too...

I'm betting it's safe to assume that there are still some shootings there.
