Do you hug people when you greet them?

Feels unnatural hugging just anyone ?

Im a toucher too. If Im having a conversation with a complete stranger, man or woman Ill touch their shoulder or arm. Sometimes Im amazed at the warm response I get. It seems to make people feel good and their demeanor changes.

ah okay, a touch is quite different from a hug with a stranger.

I dont hug strangers as a matter of course but I would put my arm around an elderly man or woman if we connected in some way.

My personal space is almost zero. I really have to think about it at school because I get too close to some people. Makes them nervous. :-3

I have seen a couple of customers freak out when someone touches or hugs them. I only hug those I know won't freak out. :wah:

Hugs saved for special people and important moments. Hugs are important.

I can sense if someone isn't a hugger and respect that. I somehow make physical contact with everyone I meet or know that's just me.

The human touch is a magical thing if used properly it can make a person happy, loved, soothe, warm, safe, secure all with just a touch. We have this ability that we should use more. Just a gentle touch on a persons shoulder when they are stressed or worried can make them relax in a second. Our pets love our touch and we shower them with it as it should be. We should share our touch with others as it works wonders.

I so agree Carla..... I visit some very elderly folks in my community. Nothing special but little things like cutting their toe nails or their hair from the little time i worked as a nurse. It saves them the cost of getting people in.... There is one elderly lady a few roads from me who is deaf and almost blind. I always give her a hug because I know she can't hear or hardly see me.

I come from a "hands off" family. My gramps wouldn't even shake hands with anyone. I don't like being touched unless I initiate it.

Hug Day

Activities directors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, here is interesting information about hugs and such

International Hug Day is September 10. It is never too early or too late to give someone a hug. Everyone loves hugs

Hugs are not only nice they are needed, Hugs can relieve pain and depression, and make all healthier happier. Hugging feels good and overcomes fear.

Here are some nice poems about hugs

A HUG POEM

IT'S WONDROUS WHAT A HUG CAN DO.

A HUG CAN CHEER YOU WHEN YOU'RE BLUE.

A HUG CAN SAY, "I LOVE YOU SO"

OR, "I HATE TO SEE YOU GO."

A HUG IS "WELCOME BACK AGAIN,"

AND "GREAT TO SEE YOU, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?"

A HUG CAN SOOTHE A SMALL CHILDS PAIN,

AND BRING A RAINBOW AFTER RAIN

A HUG, THERE'S JUST NO DOUBT ABOUT IT..

WE SCARCELY COULD SURVIVE WITHOUT IT!

A HUG DELIGHTS AND WARMS AND CHARMS,

IT MUST BY WHY GOD GAVE US ARMS

A Simple Hug

by Johnny Ray Ryder Jr

There's something in a simple hug

That always warms the heart;

It welcomes us back home

And makes it easier to part

A hug's a way to share the joy

And sad times we go through,

Or just a way for friends to say

They like you 'cause you're you

Hugs are meant for anyone

For whom we really care,

From your grandma to your neighbor,

Or a cuddly teddy bear

A hug is an amazing thing -

It's just the perfect way

To show the love we're feeling

But can't find the words to say

It's funny how a little hug

Makes everyone feel good;

In every place and type,

It's always understood

And hugs don't need new equipment,

Special batteries or parts

Just open up your arms

And open up your hearts

I Hugged Someone Today
