OMG have any of you guys got a dodgy school photo?
I have many, in fact i am quite scarred by two of them, that my parents still have on display in their dining room.
You see... i used to be a thumb sucker, and this led to my teeth sticking out.
Thanks to the miracle of dentistry i had a brace and my teeth are great now.
But my parents love these pictures and i have to look at them whenever we go round for dinner. What can i do? I thought of hiding them, but my dad reckons i look really cute, i think i look like Laura Ingles from the Little house on the prairie.

Ah, nothing you can do about it. Those photos hold memories for your parents, and how you looked then is not how you appear to your parents. You were their little darling, and still are.
I must have 50 photos of my kids during various ages and activities in the living room. That is my visual display of what is the most important thing in my life-my children. My kids know this, and they enjoy some of the silly pictures. Ballerinas in pretty outfits, a TKD in action, graduation photos in tuxes, and some silly ones that just cropped up through a family snapshot that caught them in action.

No adult looks as they did when they were a child and i find it strange that the poster is so embarrassed by them. No child grows up with perfect hair, teeth or clothes. It is about accepting yourself as who you were as much as who you are now. To be embarressed by the way you looked as a child could show a sense of deep insecurity. I also find it could be a Narcissus complex when all anyone seems to worry about is that they had buck teeth as a child. My wife's brother had horrendous buck teeth as a child and which earned him his nickname that is still used today yet he seems to have no problem with displaying his child photographs in the house.

I think most have pics that they'd rather not be displayed. I have no "deep insecurity". I had a bad perm and if that makes me have a "Narcissus complex", then so be it. :-5

The perm is a fashion of the day and i don't believe portrays the person under the perm. My apologies if i offended you Peg as maybe i came across badly in my post. I just feel that how we looked is immaterial as it is how we are as a human being that is more important. Underneath many a bad perm can be a wonderous person. I just try to look beyond human imperfections. My wife suffered the results of a horrendous perm also but the photographs are used as a source of mirth now.
