I'm surprised the police weren't prepared for this. Rival demonstrations on the same day in the same place? They should have not been allowed. Am I right? The authorities have to be informed in advance of a planned demonstration.

Absolutely right. The BNP seemed to have pulled a coup off here. The UAF was expecting a BNP turn-out but they didn't show up from what I've been told. :yh_rotfl
