21st birthday present

My son is twenty one soon, any ideas for a different kind of present?

He's in the navy and has seen quite a lot of far flung places already.

Send him memories of home and your love.

Little things you know he loves, and did when a young one.

His favorite magazine.

The latests photo of the family.

A bag of his favorite candy.

Oh, lots of things you could send to him.

And a card on how proud you are of him.

I could send you a chicago cubs Tshirt.... bet he doesn't have one of those..:sneaky::D
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

Thanks Flopstock, I think he is going to the States at the end of the year, but it could change as he is operational.

I am very proud of him, and cant believe he will be 21 soon. I need to get him something really special.

Something that is meaningful to you, something that belongs to you. An heirloom.

It should be something passed from the heart, something that he can put in a small box somewhere and 20 years from now gently pick it up and lovingly remember the day you gave it to him.

It should be a piece of you given to him in such a way that it becomes a sacred part of him that will forever remind him of his mother and her love.

A photograph album? To store photo's of all those far-flung places he's seen.

A tea-bag. ;) To remind him of home.

A mobile phone with all the bells and whistles. To email you his photo's from all those far-flung places he's seen.

A chunky piece of jewellery, like a neck chain or

a really nice watch.

Hope he has a great 21st! :-6

Tradition in my family Lou lou is a pewter 'nip flask' embosted and engraved. Or A set of two pewter mugs again embosted and engraved. (They usually come in beautiful velvet lined boxes.) They are not to drink from on a regular basis but to keep for important ceremonies or celebrations. Eg: when you're son turns 40 or 50 or his wedding etc.

Exactly the things I've mentioned are only given to children by the parents.
