Book suggestions anyone?

Post by almostfamous »

I recently finished the Twilight series and I LOVED em. I just found yesterday that Meyer wrote another one called The Host so it's sitting in my cart on amazon. I also have - ready to order - Belly laughs and Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy.

It takes a lot to really grab my attention and suck me in but I read the Twilight series in a little over a week, which says a lot for me. I've read everything by Augusten Burroughs too.

I've tried googling but every site has a "best seller" and well, pfft. So, whatcha got FG? I love a good mystery, no sci-fi, no lovey dovey crap either. I'd be open to true stories but like I said it has to be captivating. I have the attention span of an ant born in a crack house :o

I'm into anything by Agatha Christie. Try some thrift stores, they always have some good books & you won't pay out the wazoo. Oh, and since your preggers, stock up on some baby stuff..especially clothes. Is this your first?

There aren't any thrift stores around here that I know of but amazon is super cheap and usually I don't have to pay any shipping.

And yep, first and LAST :wah: This little sucker was unexpected. My high school sweetie and I reconnected and lovely me was on antibiotics for about 3 months and that nicely null and voided my b.c. As big as a mistake as it was to let the him back into my life, I feel really blessed to be having a healthy pregnancy. After the cancer and 3 miscarriages I was led to believe I would never carry to full term but I'm 22 weeks along now and he's growin like a little weed :-4:-4:-4

google abe books

I think they are AbeBooks Official Site - New & Used Books, New & Used Textbooks, Rare & Out of Print Books

they have access to a huge database of used book stores world wide, you can get any condition of any book.

I am currently reading a great Larry Mcmurtry series, "The Berrybender Narratives" Tis a 4 book series (so far only 4) it's a quirky tale of the wild west, follows a group from England across the plains... some hilarity, sorrow, some nasty violence just a good read about life on the plains during the pioneer days when the indians were still roaming the continent.

Highly reccomend it.

As for true crime stuff The Daughter loves this genre... she has spoke highly of the book called

The Ice Man by Philip Carlo. Tis about a hired mafia hitman, true story.

Happy reading.

I love the fact you can get books from all over the place and shop for cheap if you don't mind used.

I'm reading New Moon at the moment ... I watched Twilight the movie the other night. I have to tell you ... The book is so much better!

These books are totally something I would never usually dream of reading, but so mamy of my friends and their kids are reading them just now, I had to see what all the fuss is about. Hell, I'm glad I did :D

Did you know that Stephanie Meyer is writing another book from Edward Cullen's point of view? :D:D

Oh, I definitely agree the book is waaaaaaaaay better but most of the time they usually are. If you haven't already gotten the last two before you go buy them let me know and I'll send mine to ya and when you're done you can just send em back. No need in wasting 30 bucks!

And no, I didn't know that! Boy what I wouldn't give to get inside his.... oops sorry, where was I going with that??? Oh yeah, inside his brain! :lips::-4

I don't even know what The Host is about lol. All I know is she wrote it too so it's GOTTA be good.
