coaster crash at blackpool,s pleasure beach the AA grumpy column

Post by pantoandy »

well hello my FG friends come sit down and have another slice of the AA grumpy column.

that column thats about as popular as dog **** on the shoe.:yh_rotfl

when we go out for the day if you go to an amusement park dont you expect the rides to be safe ?

well the dipper in blackpool wasnt as you will read

RESCUERS climb to help save terrified thrill-seekers from a stricken carriage after a Big Dipper crash.

Bosses at Blackpool Pleasure Beach were last night bracing themselves for a flood of huge compensation claims over the smash.

Victims suffered broken bones, bruises and whiplash as two cars collided.

Firefighters used stretchers, spine boards and neck collars to rescue the passengers, who were stranded in carriages 20ft above ground on Tuesday night.

Paramedics took 21 of the 32 passengers to hospital, three with serious injuries

A 25-year-old man had facial surgery yesterday.

The Health and Safety Executive launched a probe into how one car got stuck on a 35mph section of track and another slammed into it at 7.45pm on Tuesday.

Legal expert Nigel Cragg said: "If someone was left with permanent injuries, a disability or psychological damage, they could be looking for compensation running into tens of thousands of pounds."

The Big Dipper had been closed briefly before the accident.

Customers said they saw staff looking at the track for an hour from 4pm.

Last night a Pleasure Beach spokesman said it was a routine maintenance measure and was "not related to the accident".

more like trying to duck responsibility .

these fixed amusement parks like pleasure beach fantasy island etc rely on the publics trust in their rides as the public trust that the rides are safe .

and that trust has been shattered by the pleasure beach park owners.

if you go to a theme park such as alton towers who,s safety record is impeccable

you,re confident to allow your children to go on the rides or go on them yourself

because in the back of your mind you know that ride has been checked and is safe.

sadly this didnt happen at blackpool because to save money they take on spotty school leavers because they,re cheaper to employ thus boosting profits learn them how to push a button to start the ride and a bit of health and safety and hand the ride over to the ride operator .

what about checking the ride what about if something goes wrong with the ride

they admit to looking at the track for an hour at 4pm .

so who put the pressure on for the ride to be reopened when it should have stayed closed if they wasnt sure wether it was safe to open.

i suppose there will be a big pay out and the whole affair will be quietly swept under the mat.

really there needs to be a proper searching enquiry by the health and safety checks on all rides there and any rides not up to standard closed also regular inspection checks with big fines and costs for the company on top of the claims by the injured.

as it seems the only way to stop companies like this putting profit before lives.

this smash was preventable but sadly i cannot see this happening untill someone is killed but then still no one would be held accountable
