I have Vista.
I have a square down at the bottom of my screen where the icons are.
when I click one it opens up and says:
'Java update available'
what is Java and do I need it?

It is harmless and yes you need it run the update it will take a couple of minutes and it will be over. 
It will stay there till you update it.

It just an update to software you already have. You never have to do anything to use it, it is just there. :wah:
