I'll probably eat out. My drunk uncle left a note stuck to the door of the fridge. It said "do not open". I'm afraid to look. I ain't seen his gal pal for a few days.:-3

In honour of these posts I actually bought some turnip today, which I will serve with carrots and silverbeet and pickled pork tomorrow. This evening we're having other steamed vegies, mashed potato and pumpkin and organic lamb chops. I'm a bit doubtful about the lamb... I've yet to discover inorganic meat... but they looked okay. Then back to fish and Asian stir fries.

I like turnips. I wrote to canning companies asking why they didn't can turnips like they do potatoes. I'd buy 'em. Not enough others would, I guess.

Yuchy, steamed turnips. Rank in my list of I won't eat them, like beets. I figure at my age, if I don't like it, I don't have to eat anymore. Worked well at my in-laws this summer-they had beets, fresh from the garden. Prepared beets, pickled eggs in that beet sauce, 101 ways to eat beets. Didn't try one of them, my sister-in-law was amazed-always ate everything placed before her all her life. She told me thank you afterwards, I haven't wanted to eat that stuff in years. :)

I like beets too, but in Australia we don't usually pickle them. They steam or bake brilliantly.

Whyever would anyone buy potatoes in a can????????

Dunno but they come whole (small ones) and sliced. And, instant in a box. And frozen a number of ways.

Maybe I have a rice deficency. I dont know but I eat like a pound of it a time.

Twice baked potatoes - Bake potatoes for 1 hour in oven @350F...take out and cut lengthwise, scoop out pulp & put into blender...add some butter, salt, pepper & milk to make mashed potatoes. Scoop the mashies back into the potato shells and sprinkle with parmesan cheese & paprika. Bake for another 15 min or so until top is slightly browned.

I'm getting hungry. Just pulled out a flank steak from the freezer to thaw...garlic asparagus & potato patties.

I bought Bird's Eye "Creamy tomato penne with chicken." You heat it in a skillet for 10 min. and it's delish. I love this meal for a quick meal after work when I come home late.

My freezer is jam packed with meat I bought this morning...so many ideas floating through my brain...I go to a place over by my mom's as they have a very good butcher..fresh meat, not irradiated stuff & I loathe Acme meats...way too fatty.
