So a young girl is kidnapped and held for 18 yrs. in a freaks backyard. She had every opportunity to escape. She stayed while he did some time in jail. Or she could have just climbed over the fence, but she didnt.

Im not blaming her. Clearly he had some psychological advantage over her.

Still you would think a 29 yr old woman would try to escape with her children.

I wonder too how a person loves a child from rape. It seems like there would be some hatred to overcome. Maybe not towards them but its not a simple situation.

She & her children will have to go through loads of counseling...Jaycee will probs have to be reprogrammed to "see" what she could have done...I see alot of pain for her in the years to come when she finally gets what has been done to her. I think the children will be fine in the end...but they will also have problems too. Its rather sad for all of them.

I hope the children will be fine, but they've been imprinted with a very abusive environment. sometimes that's permanent. I hope whatever counseling & future family situation they experience can erase it.

Hmmm this is a tough one. The children spent their whole life in these circumstances so to them it was normal. The mother was only a child herself when taken, for all we know he could have kept her drugged / paranoid / poisioned her mind against the outside world. Its just to early and little information known as to why she did not try to escape.

p.s - Your spoiling my viewing pleasure of the forum by your pic, any chance you could make it smaller?

Excellent answer Buttercup, I think that's exactly what happened to these children.

The guy ruined many lives and God knows what else he did. He should be publically and slowly hung.

My first thought, when i saw this the other day, was to wonder how many folks assumed the stepdad wasn't being honest way back then.
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

in abusive relationships, women are petrified to even take the chance of trying to leave.

I am just praying she and her kids get the proper counseling they so deserve.
Life is just to short for drama.

I thought of this too. Probably before you did which means I win.

He was a suspect from the beginning, right up until the girl appeared. It broke up his marriage. The stigma is there though because its usually someone in the family.

Your right the stepfather was a suspect from day one. He has remained a suspect all these 18 years until she was found. His marriage was ruined as well as his life.
