How is public transportation where you live, and do you use it?
I live in SE MI and stopped driving 3 years ago. Where I live the bus system is decent. During the week, the bus I most often catch comes every 20-30 minutes. Other come every hour. I'm fortunate to live near a bus line.

We have pretty fair bus service for a town our size, 20,000+. Doesn't run 24 hours though. No taxi service. I have used the bus but find it inconvenient. I don't like riding all over town to get to or from a place. I hope to be able to own a car again.

Pretty hopeless, buses breakdown on a regular basis. They run an odd timetable around here, putting buses on huge circular routes that work in the winter but not in the summer when the roads are full of holidaymakers. They often don't turn up at all. I struggled to get around by public transport when I didn't have a car and it's incredibly expensive here too. I eventually discovered that it was cheaper to get a taxi to take my child to school than it was to get the bus. :-2

I disagree. I think the Corny's have wonderfully reliable public transportation.

Not good....Bus depot is 10 miles away and taxi service is near impossible. If you can get a taxi, they pick up 4 people at a time and charge you the full amount:-2
I use the bus service to get back and forth to New York......would never wish to take a taxi from here again.

I only use it if going down to Philly for an event. Much easier than taking the car & don't have to worry about parking...who knows if the Phillies win the World Series again, we'll be on the trolley & kids will get the day off again.

Bristol's bus, train and airport all run to time with few cancellations, they all have displays showing what's actually happening in real time, I've no desire to go back to running a car. The trains and planes stop around 11 and start again after 5am, there's night buses for anyone out late.

Need a car to get to the bus, little, to no taxi service available! So. . . . . .
However, like qsd said, I like to go to major events where parking & or traffic is bad, by "Busoline"! Let them chauffeur me, same as those who go/arrive by Limosine! :wah:

Boy I thought our public transportation was bad in San Diego I see we aren't the only ones with awful public access.
If I had to get to work on public transportation I would have to walk 6 blocks to the bus (not big deal) I would get on a bus 2.5 hour before I need to be there. Travel backwards route to other areas for about 1.75 hour before we actually start going toward to the area my office is in. Arriving on another corner that I would need to walk another 6 blocks to get to the office. Time to go home I'm exhausted.

Baltimore has a light rail and bus system-both very dangerous to travel on. People are assaulted all the time. I took the light rail twice, and never will again.
If you have to go to DC, there is a good train system and subway, very safe to use.

I didn't mention trains, just the main trainline here, and it's the end of it, you cannot go any further - I live at the end of the world
Trains depart on time from what I can tell, I think they run in quite well but Cornwall is well known for late trains due to poor tracks although after years of service disruptions on weekends they are improving. I have been caught out by trains arriving earlier than scheduled recently :-2
Nearest airport is tiny, grass runway, blink and you miss it :wah:

Driving in Sydney is scary but occasionally necessary. Finding a parking spot is unlikely. I'm lucky, I live close to a ferry wharf, and a few minutes walk from trains and buses. Getting spray and sea breeze on a boat on your way home after a tough day taking care of business is kind of neat. :sneaky:

San Antonio has a metro bus, but I don't know much about it. The city is trying to drum up support for a light rail line to become more metropolitan; they seem to think being metropolitan is a vital element of a metropolis. :yh_eyebro
My beloved used to commute by bus, train, and underground from Reading to London when we lived there. It took something like 2 hours, but the bus stop was less than 1/4 mile from the house and her job was a very short walk from Picadilly Circus. Very dependable

I went to Fort Worth in time to get the Amtrak Heartland Flyer back to Oklahoma City. It was an eyeopener. Someone had an epileptic fit early on. Nobody spoke English except me and my Okie mate. Everyone seemed to be carrying all their kids and worldly goods. They'd obviously all been in transit for a long time, and it showed.

That sounds just like the Bristol To Victoria Express here.

Not bad - I need the occasional slap, nobody knows that more than I do.
I've several reasons but quality of programming isn't the chief one. Top of the list is an ingrained objection to millions of people all thinking the same thing and feeling the same emotional response at the same time to the same stimulus. It seems such a waste.

Not having a car i use public transport twice a week at least. It is well timed to arrive on both forms of transportation: bus and train, whoever the price range is staggering especially for someone like myself who is unemployed. To go just 20 miles out of town is over £7 for a day return on the bus and on the train. There was a time when the bus was cheaper than the train but now there is only 20 pence in it. I find this shocking and think I may as well use the train as there is only 20 pence in it and it is a damn sight quicker. The buses give destination times which are very often incorrect it will say one time then be up to 20 minutes late to arrive at the destination due to heavy traffic and also the amount of bus stops. In one lane there is around nine bus stops in under a mile people are incredibly lazy. :wah: and also there is a village before York that is covered by a regional bus when really it should be covered by York local buses especially as it is in York unitary authority if it was it would make a hell of a difference in the time to arrive at York from Malton.
