OOOOOOOOH, PARTY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I might just try the one with the little pink parasol which looks like a peach bellini... pant pant pant. Thanks LJ. Just what I need.

I hope you are having a gentle weekend Kathy!!! It's Fathers Day here and we've all been to Manly. Him Indoors asked for English boiled beef and carrots with suet dumplings for supper - and I'm in the process of pressure cooking the beef as I type. It's sort of chugging away on the stove a bit like cat purring. A cosy kind of sound. It's 20 past 5 here, Sunday evening, and - touch wood - peace reigns. Gonna hit the shower and get all spruced up, then maybe finish reading the book for my book club (meeting tomorrow and this book was my choice) - then folks will be arriving.

Hello Pam,

Happy Father's Day to hubby. We have ours in June. What book are you reading and is your group coming to your home?

Yes, thank goodness all is peaceful here at the beach. We usually have more tourists here than you can shake a stick at, but this summer has been so nice and quiet. Even this weekend was so quiet...It's not good for the town, but I love it:-6

Morning Pam, LJ & KE....yes it's quiet here too. The pool was near empty yesterday...just the way I like it:sneaky:, and Quin's friend got into the pool for free...then we enjoyed some chick nuggets, a cheeseburger & fries that gave us all gas later in the evening:wah:. The water was refreshing once you got used to it....not like the ocean where I hear it is a virtual bathtub.

Did your guests show up KE?

Hi Ducky,

Yes, I had company on and off all weekend. I left them yesterday when they wanted to go clubbing:yh_rotfl I had had it for the night...those days are long gone.:wah:

We had a good time but now I have to organize the home again....dishes, washes....yada...yada....

It's amazing how weather determines the amount of people who visit the beach. If it was a hot, humid day...a million people would be here, but since it's a bit cool, hardly anyone is here....nice.

It's great that you have a pool nearby:-6

Yup, the hotter it is the more peeps show up. But the pool was really sorta empty...good, which is fine with me...more room to swim. Clubbing? I have a friend who always wants to go clubbing...yup, agree those days are long gone. I"m more of a homebody...besides its way cheaper to drink at home then go waste money & get hit on...

Hi Odie, Ducky, LJ.

Kathy - I'm so glad your weekend went well. Know what you mean about clubbing though. Don't think I've ever been good at that. Way too noisy for moi.

I've always been slightly doubtful about blue drinks, and am sticking to the pinky yellow ones, so it's either the cosmo now, or the hurricane!!!

The book we've been reading is called "The Elegance of the Hedgehog" - Muriel Barbery.

CiteULike: The Elegance of the Hedgehog

I chose it, as something a bit different from what we've been reading, and hope the others like it. Don't know if you've read any Marcel Proust. The book references his writings often - very French - and one of his themes was how something can trigger a memory. Like a madeleine cake dipped in a cup of tea can bring back childhood joy. Not sure if I saw madeleine cakes in the States - you probably do have them. They are baked in a pan with a cockle shell type pattened base... I'll post a pic. I'm going to bake some and take them along this afternoon.

Kathy - one small visual gift.

Last night Romy came round for dinner and we were sitting in the apartment block back garden afterwards watching the full moon, bats flying etc... When on the tree behind us, right up close, Romy noticed a black faced possum just sitting there sort of smiling.

Romy likes to feed critters. She's Mother Teresa of the Animals. We had already been to Manly Beach on Sunday and she'd saved a ripe banana to feed to the water dragon lizards that bask on the rocks there. They leap out and catch the bits she throws, like a dog with a ball. Tourists take photos of this!!!

Anyway, there was a possum, and Romy had nothing to feed it. Only she did. She'd borrowed from my freezer a half loaf of frozen bread to take back to her flat, as she'd run out herself. She held out one piece and the possum came right down, held out both arms, took the icy treat, and just sat there, chomping away... crusty icecream bread. Surreality rools OK. And a gem moment to squirrel away to brighten a rainy day.

Oh Pam, that is really a surreal story. I love it:-4 Romy is a wonderful girl. That's so nice that she loves to feed the critters. You and Romy have to become part of our 'gorilla gangstas' Did anyone show you where to go sista:wah: Just mosey on along to the Bristol Zoo and check out the web cam. You can watch all the gorillas there. Actually one day Oscar and Peter were there taking pictures of the gorillas for our hoodies and she waved frantically....AND I SAW HER.....:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl That was so very cool....

We've been watching the gorillas all summer....Oscar, Pete, Odie, Chonsi, Carla and me. Join us there....Chonsi and I are going to get into monkey business with our schools to allow us to have youtube so we can view the site.;) we's gonna be bad:D

Hi Kaz:-4

The ban is 'forever." Ducky has been tossed out. Her account is closed.

I spoke with her yesterday and she's ok...just a bit shell shocked I think.

I've sent an email to tombstone, and hope he responds to me soon.

Kathy, Sweetie - I'm sorry you're so disappointed. I'm sad rather than disappointed. To be disappointed you have to expect well, so to speak. I gave that up a long time ago. Sometimes it's just time to go away and breathe different air. I'm at that stage now. I won't be going to another forum - over the years I've investigated a few and am an even greater alien in them, than I am here. I could try and become non-alien, I suppose, but then I'd be unrecognisable, even to myself. I think my last time out was about 3 months. The first week was tough - it's really just a habit pattern. The first thing is to log right off, then delete the bookmark, so I can't just automatically cruise in when I get up in the morning like I have been doing. When it was fun of course, that was lovely... and it has been fun, sometimes.. but now just about all the people with any sense, any intelligence, any kindness, any spark are gone into exile of one kind or another (or are in tiny gated communities like dear Carolly's) - the rest is wilderness, filled with wild beasts, bounty hunters and bewildered prey. :sneaky: I'll post you my outside email, if you haven't still got it. Anyway, take care and stay in touch. Be back later .. :D

They're on their way to visit you!

every day now I hear and see hundreds of Canadian Geese flying over!

would you believe one night...around midnight...I am sitting in my office on the computer and hear them squawking as they fly over?

how the heck can they fly in the dark?

how do they know where to land?

let Odie know when they arrive safely.:guitarist:guitarist:guitarist

Oh Odie,

No way would I trade your Canada geese for the pidgeons. I'd rather step in geese poop than have pidgeons around.

It's funny...we never really had pidgeons settle in my town until a pizza parlour owner, in the next town, decided to feed them. Now, they multiplied and flock and roost everywhere.....even into my town.

I do NOT like this bird. They constantly move in droves from one rooftop to the other...it's awful....

Just read it...that sounds so exciting and much better than the usual fake leaves, pumpkins, etc. I bought little pumpkin lights this week & put them on my plant out front...instead of hanging them on the iron columns...they look pretty cool. I also didn't put the fake leaves on the columns either and instead put them around our large window. Going to put some more on tomorrow...I ran out of clips and want to get the full effect round the window..as in more leaves...am also doing the wicker love seat with the leaf effect...maybe. I hope your class wins...will be doing the moon cheer which is out tonight...

Thanks Odie.....You too:-6

I have Monday off for "Columbus Day" and the temp is going to be in the 60F/16C's with just a tad of light rain....SO, I am happy to be able to get outdoors......I'm going to doing all my chores and homework today and sit on the beach and read on Sun. & Mon. while also enjoying the parade.

How about you?

Canada has Monday off as well for our Thanksgiving, and your weather is much like ours is.

good idea kathy.......get the chores out of the way.

these were just some of mine this week:

- brought in my solar lights, garden statues of a polar bear, dog etc., put my lawnmower away for winter etc. still have some perennials left to hack down.

-did the driveway last week with crack filler

-washed & vacuumed my car

-bought more feed for the 3 birdfeeders

-painted the inside of one closet

-cleaned all the door trims again

-touched up kitchen cupboard doors...again

-had a mess of magets inside to clean up after finding a 20 year old bag of birdseed.:-5:-5

-brought snowblower from shed to garage for winter.

-washed front deck

-brought in my pots of annuals.

grocery shopping yesterday, coming home got involved yesterday in a road rage incident....not my fault....the bitch was drunk and ran me off the road, no injuries or damage to my car...long story there.

today I need rest.....lots of it

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh beautiful picture, thank you.:-4

she had cut me off just before a set of red lights.....I swerved and went up on the curb...sat there in shock.....a witness had me get out of my car and asked if I was alright......I was.....I was in shock...lots of people around and I was confused........her car had landed up onto the sidewalk.

so many wonderful and thankful people came up to me.

5 police officers showed up.

they handcuffed her......

2 police officers came up and asked me the same thing, was I alright....I broke down uncontrollably, crying.....never been in an innocent.....and just weak from separation issues with Mike...one took me in his arms and let me cry.....then the other officer drove my car to the station, while the officer who hugged me drove me there....I said I would drive myself..he said that's okay Joan, I will take you.......did a report, found out she was DIU!:-5:-5

.........he drove me home while the other officer drove my car home......he asked me if I wanted my car locked.....I said, no, just leave it, I have groceries in the trunk....would you believe he took all of them out while the officer and I sat quietly in the kitchen, had coffees and talked....then the officer asked me which cupboards I wanted them in and put them all away.:-4

plus that officer had picked up 3 coffees and we sat and talked about court case etc.

I have never heard of heard seen two more attentive police officers in my life......they had done all of this for me becasue the knew how distraught I was, as I needed to explain at the police station why I was crying so much.

I will be writing letters and sending them to the police station for these two wonderful officers.......

I also had repeatedly thanked all the people there who had helped me.

I`ve ever only had to go to court once and that was for my previous divorce..not looking forward to this one...but...the nicest officer said he would take me there and home when a date is set.....so that makes me feel better.

- they have 10 witnesses.....they and myself had seen her erratic driving way before my innocent.

I was in shock all day yesterday........and just worn out today from the stress......

going to go now and shower.

I'm so truly sorry that you've gone through this awful experience.

I'm also so happy that you had nice police officers to help you.....kindness always helps us to calm down a bit. It's also wonderful that they will come to your court case with you.

Have a good day Joan...rest is always good:-4

thanks hun......it means alot, as your the only one who knows......

I did phone Mike at work last night...but just don`t feel like going it over and over again.

they were far more than just nice....especially the one who pulled me close to him and just hugged me for such a long time..I needed that with having no one around.

they both did above and beyond any duty of an officer.:-4
