I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Daily Mail only has the highest calibre of research journalists and everything they print is true.

My opinion of Spot has diminished some-what after learning that he actually bothers with this gutter press rubbish. How many times have they been sued?

From wikipedia:Fraser Nelson is a British political journalist and current editor of The Spectator magazine.

In addition to this role, Nelson is also a political columnist for the News of the World and a board director with the Centre for Policy Studies think tank. He was previously political editor of The Scotsman and a business reporter with The Times.

Educated at Nairn Academy and Dollar Academy, Nelson went on to study at the University of Glasgow and City University, London. He is an economic libertarian, sceptical of the reaction to global warming and a supporter of the Conservative Party and traditional conservative policies, and he has on occasion criticised David Cameron's leadership.Journalists don't get much more respectably qualified than that. Reading The Spectator is, presumably, okay by you?

I don't care how qualified he is... It's the shyte that's printed in TNOTW that I object to and I believe It's readers to be of the 'labotomy reunion Brigade'.

I'm not sure how to go about finding that information. I do hope you didn't ask while knowing the answer, that would have really wasted my time.

Here's a list of the number of times UK National Newspapers have printed an article headlined "Apology" referring to one of their earlier stories. That's usually an indication that they've lost a libel case though some might be gestures of politeness. The list could be made more useful if it were for the same date range for each paper but that would take rather more work. These cover the last 16 years.

The Independent (London) (238)

The Mirror and The Sunday Mirror (148)

The Guardian (London) (145)

The Express Newspapers (114)

The Times (London) (94)

Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday (77)

News International Newspapers Information Services Ltd. (66)

The Daily Telegraph (London) (42)

The People (41)

The Observer (33)

The Sunday Express (27)

The Sunday Times (London) (22)

The Express (19)

The Sunday Telegraph (London) (16)

Independent on Sunday (13)

Morning Star (8)

Interesting but surely TNOTW should be in there some-where along with It's sister paper 'The Sun'. It has to be... the first lawsuit in my memory was the crap they wrote in the 60's about Jagger when they caqlled him a drug addict. That's for one. A recent lawsuit came from 'Max Mosely'. I understand an on-going Investigation is taking place pending a lawsuit between the NOTW and the BNP. Another I recall was the editor tapping Royal family phones. I will see what I can find.

Apologies can not be classed as cast Iron law suits.

Oscar anyone who reads the daily mail on regular basis is in no position to make any comment. There is more intellectual content and integrity in the beano than there is the daily mail. You're even adopting their style of writing-just rant never mind the quality. If I actually thought you believed that what you have just writ I would be compelled to ignore you henceforth as a dim witted closet BNP member.

Mind you can't remember the last time read the News of the world-in line or otherwise. Apart from just now :-5

get yourself a spell checker if you are going to use polysyllabic words I think that song should in light of recent events be more directed at Alex Salmond.

A 'spell checker' is an American tool... here in the land of Blighty, it is refered to as 'A Spell check function'. I may have one on my pc's but frankly my Auld Yin, I can't be arrsed to use it. If you want to pull me up for my spelling, then at least, please use capital letters when you start a new sentence and when refering to his Gorgeousness. :p:p:p

But neither does it answer the question 'How many celebs have sued the NOTW'. Nor even your original question "How many times have they been sued". If you actually do have the answer then, as I said, I'm not sure how to go about finding that information short of knowing a report where it's been counted but I'd be interested to see the figure.

I'd be very Interested also... I'm trying to find some stats but they seem elusive on google. That does not mean to say they have never been sued. Jagger, Mosley, Alex Ferguson are three I am well aware of but there has to be more. I've also just found 'Lily Allen' and kate Moss'.

I expect there's hundreds. You'd need to specify whether you wanted sued or successfully sued, and the date range to look through, and it would cost hundreds of hours to get close to anything accurate.

Treating ForumGarden as Comedy Central is all very well but it leaves no room for others to hold anything resembling a serious discussion any longer. How would you react to a prefix "serious discussion" in opening posts as a marker not to go in and bring up perennial bêtes noires like the Daily Mail, Gordon Brown and libel?

No... Please expose your umbrage toward the Scottish member.

I was just genuinely concerned for your mental well-being Spot as I have never seen a NOTW link posted on this forum before.

Excuse me but I was not being humorous. You don't seem to have the ability to understand the damage gordon brown has done to this country. He is without doubt one of the worst chancellors in history, only Tony Blair can claim to have done more damage as a PM although give gordon his due he is doing his best to claim that as well. The mess now is largely due to his policies as chancellor, he is incompetent, inept, a numpty, calling him a wanker is being charitable-at least it implies he made someone happy, if only briefly.

I always assumed your adoration is intended to be humorous. If it is real I despair.

Name one chancellor who has done more damage than gordon brown.

I notice you don't answer them though. If you don't want to fair enough I'm not that bothered about it.
