All to familiar now isn't it. Exactly.. although to be fair, I do think it depends on what area you live in. I won't go into details here but I have been making some-what of a nuisence of myself with our local police of late. Two weeks ago our Inspector had a long chat again with Mr O and made certain pledges that I thought 'I'll believe it when i see it'. But No, he has kept his word and I really am pleased with what he's done. Nothing to do with a reporter coming to my house next week to discuss what the local police are doing for a follow up report of course :rolleyes: They seem to have some new very dedictaed officers down there who genuinly care.
To say this is the council's problem is really bassing the buck isn't it? Residents are given logs by the council to log problems over a serious of months yet they have to suffer months of anti-social behaviour while the log is being fully filled out.

I think it's code for why isn't the council acting. It's typical of the politicians to stand around pissing and moaning. If they REALLY wanted the police to act they'd give them ability to back themselves up with action rather then tying their hands effectively behind their backs.
If your councils and courts stood up and said here's the behavior we are demanding of kids, here are the consequences and gave the police the authority to arrest with assurances of conviction - I think your police would act.

I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Here in Britain there was a time where the police wer there to 'serve and protect' and tackle 'Crime prevention' which is now virtually none existent in some area's and police only coming in when it's far too late and only when they can arrest some-one.
The council is there for the every day aspects of life such as builing planning, park management, housing and social aspects... they are not there to police the country. They do not lay down the objectives to police, that comes from government and why police work to ridiculous government targets. Judges and courts are more or less governed by Government in sentencing restrictions... nothing to do with the council. For example.. a recent change meant that the act of criminal damage did not reach the courts should the damage be under £500... that came from Whitehall and government... not the local councils who have absolutely no power in these matters.
I have just been reading an article which is too long to post but part of it said that a senior police officer had ruled against 'Criminalising children' as he believed then going to prison made them worse. This in effect leaves these yobs free to make folks lives a misery until you have a tragedy such as the lady who killed herself and her daughter.
If a family is being hounded by yobs, the police advise that they go to the council to get an ASBO (Anti Social behavior) order on the yob. This takes months as they can not act on just one incident. The victem is given a log and they must record at least 3 months of harrassment before they even look at it. That means the victem suffers 3 months of harrassment before anything is done. When you do get some yob an ASBO, current figures show that 93% ASBO orders are breached.
