What an absolute waste of time??

Post by Oscar Namechange »

What a horrible night we have had for local police?

To cut a long story short... Up to 80 drunken teenagers.

I called 999 for one car and It arrived in 3 minutes due to the severity of the situation. Even as they were pulling in, he was radioing for back up and we ended up with 5 units within minutes. Then another 2 had to come out. It took our local police 2 solid hours to clear them.

The attitude of the teenagers to police was nothing short of disgusting with one scroat even throwing a missile at an arriving squad car.

How the heck does the country deal with this?

What a waste of valuable resources on a friday night?

The police told me we were not the only area suffering from this but they were all over the place tonight.

Who and what is to blame?

I have to say that the police were absolutely brilliant and defused a potential time-bomb extremely well.

It's not just where you live either. Christchurch NZ has this happening quite often. Youth running amuck.

"Who and what is to blame"! That's the million dollar question oscar, parents, teachers, societity?!

Here in NE, there are areas where when drunken routies (never as many as "80") get involved together, sometimes it errupts into cases where there can be "shootings" where someone actually gets shot! As unfortunately here, many of the thugs have guns! :-5

Lon and Cars, thanks for your posts. I don't know what the policing situation is where you are but in Britain, to waste 7 units for 2 hours is criminal when they are so under-manned and under-funded.

The first cars officer told me he radio'd for back up because as he came round the corner, he saw these hoards of them and realised he'd never clear them on his own. These youths attitude to the police is just amazing. There was one point I said to this youth 'Oye Have some respect for the Officer' and I got a 'Sorry' from him.

So what is to blame.?

First, I blame the fact that we have had 4,000 new homes go up on Greenbelt within the last few years and they are still building. These are all family homes that have children and teenagers. No extra facilities have been built for them so they have no-where to go except hang round local shops late at night.

Second... Cut price booze in Supermarkets and 24 hour drinking laws means they can get drunk for £5. If they are under-age, Some-one will buy it for them.

Third..... parenting. The Officers last night were telling us that even when they put the really obnoxious one's in the car and take them home, the parents then say to the officers, 'Why are you picking on my kid'? and they get grief not the kids.

Government has systematically stripped the authorities, schools and parents of the right to discipline at an early age.

Last night, even after the officers battled to split the group up and move them on, as soon as the police were gone, they were back. Only the police were a bit sneaky and double backed on them as this time they had all moved onto a certain war memorial.. And I wasn't going to have that, was I ? :sneaky:

Now I have to waste my time and more officers time making statements. It's a criminal waste of resourses. One day, these youths parents will need the police in a hurry and they'll wait 3 hours for a car because they are all tied up doing this.

The police can not pysically arrest up to 80 youths. It's Impossible so these yobs know they get away with this behaviour time and time again and constantly push the boundaries. When you have a gathering like that in a small village, the residents are terrified and will not phone the police for fear of reprisals from these yobs. Then It's a vicious circle. If the police do not get enough calls from the public, the Inspector can not go to his superiors and ask for extra men based on volume of calls or get dispersal orders.

Good thread Oscar...We really need to take our towns and cities back so ciitzens can live in peace.

I was born in a beautiful city that had communities that worked together to instill values and moral within our families. Over time those values were no longer taught and my city became a battle zone. I moved thankfully, but miss those good auld days:(

oops....didn't finish my thougts before it posted.......

Now I live in a lovely seaside town that's well guarded by our police force...although they are way too rough on visitors. The near-by honky tonk town is also being supervised by the police force so we don't have many problems here now.

Hope this lasts....

Glad your getting peace now kathy.

I must say, the police last night were absolutely brilliant. Kathy we need US policing methods here. And Judge Judy !!!! As I said, last night the officers were telling us that It wasn't just our village that was suffering, It was everywhere. When they all re-congregated on a certain war memorial, one officer told me that as I was 'Ahem.. a little firey' :wah: It was best if I just stood on the other side of the road. ME ???? FIREY??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :wah:
