Can't Sleep

Post by Lon »

I had planned to leave early this AM for San Francisco (a two hour drive) to make a 8:30 AM breakfast, but not this early, as it's 4 AM. At least I get to see all the UK folks actively posting away as it's mid morning there.

Just as a matter of interest to some. I will be crossing two bridges to get to San Francisco and then parking my car for the day. Not counting petrol or the cost of breakfast and lunch the bridges and parking will run about $50 USD. What would a similar thing cost in London?

OMG, an absolute fortune!

When I last lived in London, 10 years ago, it cost £1 to park for 20 minutes in central London. Most places only allow you to park for an hour or two max. If you need to park all day you need to use an NCP car park which cost about £20 per day then, so about $40. It's probably at least £30 per day now so about $60. But you can get concessions, listed here:

NB We have very few toll bridges in this country and none in London.

There are shopping malls here that charge you to park your car just so you can then go in and shop there. Now I grew up in Canada and I'm pretty sure if they tried charging to shop the mall would be empty.......
