Do you think back to how you raised your children?
Do you think back to how you raised your children?
Do you think you done the best job you could or beat yourself up that you could have done better?

Sweetheart, not a day goes by I don't wish I'd have been a better dad, husband, son, brother, grandkid, uncle etc. I made all the classic mistakes. Was gone too much, drunk when I was home, ignored wife and family, mistreated in-laws and on and on. What makes it worse, my X is sick now. Yes, I told my kids how I feel about all that. Yes, I beat myself up over it all even though they don't hold it against me. I think we all would change something in our past.

We all balls up, some more than others but what's done is done and you can't go back and change It. I have more respect for some-one like you who can accept failings than those with their heards up their arsses believing their pharts don't stink. We all do what we think is right at the time... It doesn't make us bad, criminals or anything else, sometimes it's just wrong descisions and lack of judgement. We learn from mistakes and we grow stronger, wiser and more empathetic.

Unfortunately kids don't come with instruction manuals...so it's all trial and error. Just when we feel like we've learned what to do, the next one comes along and is totally different and we have to start all over again. We all have screwed up, but most of us have tried our best and hopefully the good things stick and they are better with their kids than we ever were with them.
