Thankyou Odie for popping in
The week went far too quickly, so we are nipping back again at the end of the week :guitarist :yh_rotfl :sneaky: Just for a long weekend :-6 Oh and to take some more special bits and pieces to their new home - we've bought a flat-pack metal garden shed which will be delivered next Monday - to take our tumble drier, garden tools, bikes etc. It will take two to get it assembled (my hubby and my son :wah:) and I'm hoping that it has it's own floor, cos I forgot to ask them in the shop ! Still, if it aint, Chris says he will put slabs down as a base. But they won't be sorting that out yet, as we still have a lot to do here and a very short time to do it in, and what don't get done, won't get done ! Cos we will be away from here come November !!!! :guitarist :guitarist :guitarist :-6

By the way, all those beach huts in the pic, taken on the 14th Oct. have now been removed for winter protection - didn't take them long to shift them away, cos when we went back through there a week later, they had all gone! There must have been at least 100 of them, and I wonder where they've been taken. Must try to get down there in winter to get some good pics when the sea is angry !

Oh yes, they would have to bring them in somewhere.
I imagine winter would be quite cold down by the beach.

Removing the beach huts each year, like that, saves the huts being pounded to pieces by the sea ! Apparently it costs the owners £300 to remove from the sea front, winter store, and return them back to the sea front in the Spring. It is very rare for the sea to rise as high as the promenade level during the summer, but in winter it happens fairly regularly !

I've just seen that FOC seems to have collapsed. Such a sad time, after so much pleasure that it brought to so many people. I would have put this on FOC seeing as how I made the very first opening post back in 2007, but perhaps it would be inappropriate.
I started the thread really for Carol, to help compensate for her dreadful experiences on another site. We developed a special friendship before we came to FG, and it continued for quite a long time........................ till I seemed to F - up and upset some people. (I have always felt that it was a great shame that reason and compassion flew out of the window when that happened).
Well of the originals Carol, Kaz, Me, Kay, Helen, and Joan (Joanee), we have scattered. I just don't understand the draw of flamin Facebook, but each to their own I suppose. I did become a member yunks ago, but I think I've managed to cancel myself ! Wasn't too keen on the apparently frequent hacking that seems to be on the increase on that sort of site, and I really couldn't be arsed with the daft 'pokes' etc. As for other sites, well, I haven't got the time or the inclination to delve into more sites - FG is enough for me, and I have made a few friends on here. I think I'm still registered on EA, but I shall try to cancel that as well - just can't manage more than the one site !
With all that is going on chez moi at present, and has been going on now for nearly two years, and will probably continue to go on for quite a lot longer yet, the fact that FOC seems to be crumbling is very upsetting to me. Even though I feel I can't post on there any more because of certain happenings, I still have a fondness for the thread - it still means a lot to me. I really do hope it will continue - it made history, broke a few records and most importantly it made lots of friends.
All the very best to ALL foc'ers past, present, and hopefully future. XXX

Yes I was thinking of your little family with all the firework bangs going on, poor little things must be so scared. Fortunately our big Rex isn't too bothered by the bangs, but he's a little jumpy at the screamers ! We take no notice of the noises, have the radio on playing music quite loudly, and just carry on as if nothing abnormal is happening. Seems to work quite well with our dog, but he follows us around if we move out of the room, whereas he would normally just lie on his bed sleeping!
I made a few posts on Kaz's thread about that dreadful fire which killed that woman in Cornwall - said how I feel about bloody fireworks these days.
Hope Chris is OK now after all the fiasco with his ops, or is it still not sorted?

:-6I hate Fireworks and yes should be banned to the Public IMO and only sold for organised Displays.....makes me laugh....somebody I know nearly got done once for selling a bread knife to "someone" who was a big 6.4 Male who in actual fact was working for The Trades and Standards and was under 18....looked about 25 fgs and the Police went to them with The Trade and Standards and they got a warning for not asking to see ID as they were under 18...dirty rotten gits and what a way to work.Got me thinking also what about screw drivers.....hammers etc and where the hell do you draw the line. Also what do they eat with???Anyway I will step off my soap box now lol.
Chris is still waiting to hear about having his 3rd Op and in the mean time yes is still "leaking" after 2 and a half years.....joke ah.He went to the Hospital again a couple of months back and was told prob around now he will be called...well lets see but it so is getting on his nerves. He would have come and told you all this himself but for reasons he dont want to post here anymore and with his temper his best not to lol....still never say never ah but at the mo thats how his feeling.Anyway thats his news update lol....now I gotta feed the Geese and give a couple of the Dogs a haircut.....oh deep joy.:wah::driving:

Blinkin eck! Is it that long since Chris had his first op? You know, Carol, there really should be some sort of come-back about that bodge-up - somebody, somewhere has fckued up, and it certainly ain't Chris. It is disgusting, putting a patient through such unnecessary discomfort and anxiety for no damn good reason! But that doesn't help your Chris at the moment, I dare say. I just hope things can be sorted properly before Christmas, so you can both have a better one this year! I'm not surprised he is so angry! God bless our National Health Service, cos nobody else will, whilst they do crass stupid things like that !

Then when I do go to bed, I'm kept awake by selfish pratts letting off bangers in the nearby streets till about 3 or 4 am ! Gawd, this could go on till after the New Year ffs. The bags under my eyes are big enough to get my weeks shopping in !!!! :-5
What upsets me most is that we cannot move yet, until the outcome of what's happening to my family is concluded. This could mean that we'll have to spend Christmas here, when I was so looking forward to having a lovely Christmas in our new home ! :-1 Still, if it is a good outcome, then it will be worth all the waiting !

Because they are selfish, thoughtless morons, who just don't give a toss for anybody else. It's a pandemic I'm afraid, and there doesn't seem to be a cure..........
well not a legal one anyway ! :-5:-5:-5

Fireworks are no longer on sale. These yobs just buy up a load when they are on sale, then just have a fling with them on later days, or should I say nights. Most of these pratts are unemployed, so gawd knows where they get the money from - I shudder to think !:-5

Of course there are, but the yobs couldn't care less! By the time somebody has rung the police, the yobs have moved on. If the police actually respond, it would be anything from 10 minutes to several hours later ! Useless, and the yobs know this, of course. Therefore nothing can be done, even if you wanted to do something about it. Mostly, though, people don't bother, because they don't want to run the risk of retribution. The yobs win every way.

that's just ridiculous every night!
maybe the sound of a shotgun going off will change their minds.

we get them going off all year here, theres lots of big hotels that now hold wedding ceremonys and they very often have firework displays as part of the celebrations,
new years eve is another occasion, our wonderful weather dosnt help much either, if it rains on bonfire night, people put it off until it improves. until last year, we had an american airbase nearby and they, of course celebrate 4th of july in style.
so we are pretty much stuck with it !!!

oh god Helen, that's dreadful! Seems they are becoming a new trend there.
we only have them for Canada Day, and one other weekend and usually for one night each and are over by around 10pm.
I couldn't handle this every night, let alone my cats.

Good morning all ! Hope everybody is OK today. The weather is very overcast where I live (Central Midlands England), with the promise of showers. It has been foggy overnight in a lot of places, and the temperature is around 7 C, in the 40's F.
Glad it is not necessary for me to venture out today, as my hubby is doing the food shopping at this moment! Bless his little cottons !

My weather is pretty good, sunny and a bit cold, 8C, but have to get used to it as fall is almost over and winter begins very soon!
It's nice when your hubby can do the shopping.:guitarist
