reckless mum pushes her pram in front of a moving train the AA grumpy column
good evening the grumps here with what i believe to be a shocking story
hot on the heels of a railway tragedy i reported in nottinghamshire .
this stupid woman pushes her pram with a tot in it past a red danger light and in front of a moving train.
now the sun may have exagerated the distance but it doesnt matter how near or how far it missed her by its the fact that she put herself and her child in danger.
now call me an old cynic but shouldnt the british transport police be studing the footage and trying to find this chav mother in her pink tracksuit after all its endangering the life of an infrant.
and shouldnt network rail fit locks to the gates to prevent them being opened when the light is red ?
or does it take another death on the railway before something is done .
i suggest you read the story in the link and see the picture first
THIS is the shocking moment a reckless mother pushed a pram across the railway tracks of - a MOVING TRAIN.
The impatient young mum ignored the level crossing's red warning light and crossed the tracks with her tot.
But the idiotic woman was forced to run for her life when she spotted the locomotive picking up speed after leaving the station.
Onlookers watch on in horror as the train missed the mum - wearing a pink tracksuit - and her baby by inches.
The potentially fatal incident - near Wareham station in Dorset - was captured on CCTV and has been released by Network Rail to raise awareness of rail dangers.
Local councillor David Budd, who is supporting a campaign to install barriers at the crossing, said: "Sadly this scenario is not uncommon and this is not a new issue.
"This woman is doing exactly what many people do at this crossing - thinking they can get away with rushing across without looking.
Twelve people have been killed at level crossings in Britain since January, with another 189 registering as "narrowly avoiding" a collision.

Nothing new I'm afraid, people do it all the time. What usually gets them is the fast train coming the other way that they aren't looking at. Watch the shoe on the second idiot...........................

I grew up with level crossings. They were in my village and surrounding towns. I was educated by my parents as to exactly what would happen to me if I abused the system. My parents put the fear of god up me about them and It's always stayed. If I remember correctly, I was told to wait, look, listen and wait again. I have seen many near misses over the years from idiots who think they are immortal. To push a baby onto the lines is just selfish. :-5

I drive trains so see it all the time. People think trains are like cars and they have the right of way and I'll stop for them. Even when they walk down a platform they do it by the track ,what do they think the yellow lines on the edge are for ?? I go past stations at 90mph and there they are right on the edge reading a paper or using it as a clear path to walk along. We have had 5 suicides in the last two weeks as well so it isn't just people being stupidly selfish either......

What angers me also in these situations is the long term effects it has on a train driver when he is unable to stop and these people get mashed. Don't they have any thought for anyone else? Especially the driver who has to live with this for the rest of his life when It's never his fault.

They end up on incapacity benefit and pills that keep them from having nightmares for the rest of their lives. And for WHAT!!!?? They suffer anxiety in public places, and have chronic health issues in regards to GI funtion for the rest of their lives. Not to mention all the counselling they go through! All because someone forgot about the Samaritans?? FFS!! :-5

eerrmmmm..not really. You get a week off work if you are lucky and you can get counseling though that goes on your record so most turn it down. You can also get £1,000 but you have to jump through a few hoops to get it. Fatalities are looked on as part of the job so the humour is a bit on the dark side at work. A typical driver with a 40 year career is expected to have 3 deaths over that time. I have heard of a driver in London who has had 8 but either this is just legend or he has a part time job with Samaritans drumming up business for a new kitchen. (told you it was more on the dark side of comedy)........

You know whats REALLY bad? I actually GET that kind of humour. But then again, working in hospitals doesnt make for standard everyday sort of jokes. I guess the same could be said for undertakers.
