Not enough use to get more. I have a job that requires a lot of walking, running, lifting, crawling around behind machines and servers. I get a pretty good workout every day that's why I'm in bed by 9pm. :wah: I use to play soccer and baseball was pretty good at both. I was a tap dancer from the age of 50 to about 56 loved it.

I believe the human body has just so many miles of walking and lifting built into it. Using it all up moving just for the sake of movement is silly.

I would love to be able to exercise. I miss walking the most. With rheumatoid arthritis, I am grateful that I can still get around enough to do my job. I have it in my toes, ankles, and hands the worse. It's caused my toes to become deformed. Any suggestions of some good exercise I can get?

Thanks Lon. I'll check it out. There are times I don't want to move, but I do know for a fact that no movement is worse than overdoing it. It's just so darn frustrating when I used to walk to work, now if I try it, I'm in too much pain to work.

My job is quite physical. I used to be alot more active. (perhaps thats why I dont wear a size 5 anymore)

I am a fairly healthy adult. I chase after my cats alot, does that count? :o

I am doing much better recently. For the last month I get to the gym 3 times a week and am already feeling better and noticing a bit of a difference. I hope to stick at it.

I was going to the Y six times a week and then took a month off. Just started back last week regularly. Think I'll limit it to 5 days so that I don't burn out on it again..
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

No wonder you burned out. You over did it. 4-5 times at the Y is plenty. You need to take days off inbetween to rest because it gives your muscles a chance to recuperate and repair.

If you feel the need to be doing something all the time, take a brisk 30 minute walk when you take days off from the Y.

I get plenty of exercise everyday. I've been very athletic for most of my life sans a brief period where I was ill as some of you may know. I'm no longer ill after ridding myself forever of the thing that was killing me, not to discredit the world's best doctor's and my friend Leyla (here on FG... y'all know what an incredible/beautiful/genius she is) for all the help and support that they've given to help me recover.

I've done everything from running (was a marathon runner and triathlete for years), swimming, martial arts (have a black belt in Karate and Kung Fu, tennis, rowing, kayaking, sailing, rock climbing, hiking, surfing, rollerblading, skiing, ice skating, bodybuilding, polo, fencing, football... I have to be careful as I tend to have an addictive/compulsive personality (many runners do) and tend to overdo things which can be as bad as being sedentary.

Good on ya G-man-----------don't know the nature of your past illness but glad to hear that it's behind you----------

I have never been one to enjoy working out for the sake of exercise, but playing all kinds of sports, running (before knees went), on a regular basis was and is enjoyable.
