Flu Shot Saga:

Post by cars »

It was hard getting our Flu shots! We usually got them during our yearly check-ups in November. But due to all the Flu hype lately, we decided to try to get our shots early. (yesterday) We called our Doc. and he said we were out of luck, as he had a mad rush on flu shots the past few weeks, and now he was all out, & he was told he was not getting another allotment. So yesterday we called all the local clinics around, & one 20 miles away had the vaccine. So after we finally found the place, and walking in, someone was walking out saying "they" were out of the vaccine! Sure enough, a sign was posted on the wall: Sorry, Out of Flu vaccine! So today, we called many other clinics until, we found one that said it had it. (100 viles) So off we went at 9am to get our shots. We got there 20 minutes later, and the line was not as bad as anticipated. (they were already down to 78 viles left) We got our shots, yeah! :wah:

So if you're thinking of getting a flu shot, "get going"! Good Luck!

Yes, they shut down the flu clinics all around here, even the one that was supposed to be held at my school.

From what I hear, there is live virus in the H1N1.

That's right Peg, but Jimbo already had his bout of pig flu so I don't think they gave him H1N1, just the regular stuff...Mind you, saying that, it is Jimbo we're talking about.....:wah:

My mother ended up very ill after one flu shot. The doctor said she was probably getting the flu when she got her shot. Took got it every year faithfully and that was the only time she got sick from it. I hope you are feeling better.

Most likely the Doc was right, as the pamphlet on the Flu vaccine they gave us, said that after getting the shot, it takes "two weeks" for the Flu shot to become effective/active!

im one of those who is opting out of getting any kind of flu shot. I feel to many things injected or injested into our bodys is making us too weak and unable to fight off anything for ourselves seems we are less and less capable of building up immunities. just my personal feelings....

You're not alone in those feelings, the PA who gave us the shots, said she was not getting one herself!:wah: (That was after the fact, then it made us kinda leary)

I was told this morning no more flu shots or swine flu shots for quite awhile here.

Also, that people a certain age already have an immunity from the swine flu, this is not the first time it has been here. It was older people, like in the 70s, they got their immunity from their parents. I found that an interesting fact.
