Those pictures are amazing, I can only imagine how it would have been to have experienced such a pall in such typically lively creatures.

Many other species also suffer such grief. As we are not among them, very few get to see such episodes. For example, a cow seal will cry real tears and wail when her cub is battered to death by hunters. Polar bears howl also. Some spieces of Ape carry their dead babies long after death unable to part with them.
