My Grandma Died Today...

Post by shelbell »

I got "the" call today that my grandma had died around noon today. As much pain as it causes us, it is also good to know she's no longer in pain and is in a much better place. It's very hard since I lost my hubby just 8 months ago, but now it's time for our family to pull together and we always do. She had a great life, she would have been 92 next month, 3 of her kids still living, so many grandkids and tons of great grandkids...and my grandson was her only great-great grandkid. She was always surrounded by so much love. I was so lucky to have spent 5 hours with her last night. Please send prayers, thoughts and good wishes to my family. Thanks, Shelly

Your a wonderful and caring daughter to take your mom shopping today to find the perfect outfit for her to wear to her mom's funeral.

You have been through so much sis, and you reached out and gave your mom 'her' day.

Today is a day your mom will never forget.:-4

Today was very hard. Since my mom and myself are both widows, I got to sit next to her to give her support...my brothers are both married. It was very special being able to give her support back after all her support earlier this year when my hubby died. I'm sure most of you understand how hard it is to see your mom in so much pain. My gramma had been so sick and at the end hardly resembled what we knew as her...but she looked so beautiful and so peaceful, just like the gramma we all remembered her as.

Today was very painful but she left such a legacy of love and commitment to family...something that we all learned from her. She is at peace now and I know one day I'll see her again. :-4

Thank you all so much for the outpouring of love, prayers, thoughts, wishes and support. You are all a special group of people.

I saw this thread earlier and wanted to reply...

My condolences, Shelbell. I just lost my grandmother this past year and I am just glad that I was able to spend some quality time with her up until she passed on peacefully. That's great that your family could pull together like that. I just wish that I could say the same for my own family after my grandmother passed away.

Thanks G...it's only important that you got to spend time with her and that she knew you were there and loved her. You know the saying "you only see people at weddings and funerals". So many extended family, like all my cousins I was so close to when we were young, have moved far away and we'd lost touch. One cousin moved from IL where I am, to Texas 26 years ago and I've only seen her a few times since. But it's one of those relationships that you're seperated for so long, but when you're together, you'd never know it. Everyone else was almost like strangers. But me, my brothers, their wives, our kids all pulled around my mom and she was our only concern. Sad, but just the truth. You can't control anyone else, only your self and at least you know that YOU did what was right and best for you and your grandma. :-4
