Searching for Local Information on the Web

Post by Liling »

Dear ForumGarden members,

Considering your interests in topics about daily lifes, the University of Colorado Denver invites you to participate in a study of local information search experience.

Looking for local information on the Web can be time-consuming and frustrating. Our goal is to identify the best blend of information source that meets your needs so better systems can be designed. Your opinion is most valuable in helping us achieve this goal.

Your participation is voluntary and all information is confidential.

The survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete. If you are 18 or older, living in the United States, and have ever searched for local information on the Web, please participate in this survey by visiting: http://ouray.cudenver.edu/~lhsu/infoseek/

Your participation is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Sincerely,

Li-ling Hsu

Ph.D. Student, Information Systems

University of Colorado Denver

P.S. This research is University of Colorado Denver HSRC Protocol #: 09-0670.

This research is being conducted under the supervision of my dissertation advisor, Dr. Zhiping Walter (Zhiping Walter :: University of Colorado Denver Business School).

Out of interest Liling, how many responses do you think you'll need in order to generate significant results?

Do you intend to publish your conclusions on the web? It would be interesting to see, if you link this thread to any eventual results.

Spot,

To have a significant result, there needs to be at least over 100 responses.

I would love to share the result with you and anyone who is interested. But I am not sure how this paper will end up with. I will keep you updated.:)

They may need a new category of super-confident dolt to fit my results into the picture.

Probably the real study is on getting favorable participation from strangers though use of manners online.

She/he asked, rather then just slap it up here. :-6

I immediately went out and took the survey. I normally just ignore stuff like this.:D
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

Thank you, Kathy and other ForumGarden members, for participation.

flopstock,

We have 95 responses so far. I hope I can have 150 ~200 people to participate. The more, the better, of course.
