Law of the Garbage Truck

Post by Mustang »

I received this in email this morning and thought it was worth sharing. :-6

"Law of the Garbage Truck"

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches. The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And, I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!" This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, "The Law of the Garbage Truck."

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.

Life is 10% what you make it and 90% how you take it!

Have a blessed, garbage-free day! :-6

It's quite subtle really, Mustang. The angry driver probably badly needed to dump his garbage, and was in 'bring it on, make my day, mate mode'. A smile and a wave would have confused him, frustrated him, driven him flaming mad. Neat, really !! I knew a nun once who used to make the sign of the cross back at those who yelled at her when she cut in on them, driving. Works every time.

Oh and peace be upon all of you!!!:sneaky:

Thanks for posting this great story! My name is Dawn, and I work with David J. Pollay, the author of The Law of the Garbage Truckâ„¢. I just wanted to stop by and let you know that you can read the original story on David’s blog, davidjpollay.typepad.com/david_j_pollay/lawofthegarbagetruck.html. It would mean a lot to us if you would let people know that David is the author of The Law of the Garbage Truck.

You can also find out more information about The Law of the Garbage Truck on thelawofthegarbagetruck.com. Make sure to check out the video of people in New York City taking the No Garbage Trucks!â„¢ Pledge: bewareofgarbagetrucks.com. It’s pretty cool.

Thanks again!

Thanks Mustang:-6

This thread made my day because this morning I was full of 'ajada' and ready to explode by the time I got to school.

Some of my neighbors don't secure their garbage or lawn furniture during a nor'eastern storm along our Noo Joisey coast. Consequently, their boogie boards, garbage cans, and lawn furniture dent my car and smash windows in my home and garage.

We have a nor'eastern pounding us for the last 2 days. Last night I was awakened 3 times and had to secure my neighbor's debris.

I was so tired by the time I went to work and was grouchy and worse.....snarly....:o I pulled my car over and did a little bit of meditation as I don't want to take my annoyance out on my kidlets.

It worked:-6:-6:-6...I felt better...decided that I need to chat with my neighbors this weekend and ask them to be more careful...

When I returned home tonight, I went out and just cleaned up the mess in my yard and driveway;)

Thanks Mustang...I was happy that I didn't upset my kids, and then I log onto FG and see your thread....:guitarist

It's so true....If you get a lemon...make lemonade:p

You're an inspiration, Kathy Ellen... though I need to disagree with you on one important point.

If life hands you a lemon, use it to add zing to your gin and tonic? Can I line you up one?

Glad that this thread helped made your day Kathy Ellen. :-6 Yep, sometimes it good to meditate to let go of what's bothering you. ;)

Yes, I watched on the news how badly NJ is getting pounded with storm. They showed quite a bit of flooding. Batten down the the hatches! Hopefully it will be over before you know it and you won't have too much damage from it. ;)

But now I have to learn how to deal with these flippen drivers who tailgate you trying to run you off the road..... As the Irish would say.....'The durty skytes....':wah:

I don't flip the bird to them anymore...I do as AussiePam does...Just put the little finger where they can't see it as they go by doing a 100 mph...:p This way...they don't kill me, and I have a snicker:p

OOPS - you've seen me drive, Kathy??!!

I need all your strength now for the people who are renovating on the floor above me. It's been 3 weeks now. Constant drilling and hammering. I do want to kill someone. Badly!! :sneaky:
