Rituals

Post by koan »

Do have any little things you do that have special meaning to you or bring you comfort?

For example, I told my mother to hang a windchime in a specific spot for better feng shui and she decided to ring the chime every day to increase wealth. It seems to have worked.

My first cup of coffee every day is a grounding ritual. I don't quite feel like I'm in the world until I have the first sip. Don't much look like I belong in the world either :wah:

I find the older i get the more attached I am to my morning routine. Up until about 7AM. After that, anything goes.

Funny you should ask. Once, when I was working playground duty 17 years ago as a new teacher, I found a battered plastic "Tigger" in the grass. His arms are on his hips and he has his traditional wide smile on his face. His arms neatly hold a pencil and a pen.

I've managed to keep him all these years on my desk at school. Every night, when I leave (I teach 8:00 am to 9:00 pm day school and night school) I put my pen and pencil back in his arms, and I feel like I've had a good day, no matter how much drama there's been. (And believe me, there's a LOT of drama in the schools these days.)

I also feel great when I come in and see him in the morning. He's become a sort of mascot to me.;)

hehe. Enjoying my new ritual of watching CSI twice in a row before meeting a friend for coffee down the street.
