Rake Those Leaves!

Post by Saint_ »

It's that time of year! How do you dispose of the volumes of leafy material?

I have 23 different species on my property, everything from Spruces and Long-needled Pines to Peachcots, Birches, and Russian Olives.

I use a leaf blower to blow them all into the street, (a rake hurts me too much these days) but then I sweep them up and bag them. (I hate it when the neighbors just let them drift around the neighborhood.)

So how do you get rid of them?

Oh...funny thing this year, my Peachcot dropped half it's leaves, then paused for a week. Weird. Then an early snow blew in and covered them before I could get them up! Now I have to work like a madman this weekend before another snow hits!:-3

Raking? What exactly is that? I leave my leaves on the ground to protect the grass! :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

Here is how I get rid of my leaves: Since I live in the woods on 23 acres, I hire a landscaper to come and get rid of them for me :wah:

We went green here several years ago and the city bought a leaf vacuum. Everyone rakes to the curb and the city comes by the day after garbage day and sucks the stuff up. I think we are limited to branches the width of quarters in the piles, but there is nothing like coming home from work to a clean yard.

Very little leaf burning anymore.:-6
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

omg.....leaves again?:-5:yh_rotfl

I have used my leaf blower many a times this year and it comes in really handy!

I can get right into the gardens and blow them all to hell!:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

then I had to bag then and used 60 bags!:-5:-5

The rest, I used my lawnmower to multch, which I have to do one more time tomororw.

We don't get mechanical leaf blower machines in our area, its only for the higher income people, which pisses me and others off as these are the ones who can afford to hire someone themselves.:-5

In Toronto with 5.5 million people, it should be all or none.;)

I have no leafs

only pinecones,

they have proven to be a bad choice of piles to jump upon... just thought I would issue that warning. :wah:

One of my favorite aromas is that of burning leaves. But, since this is "environmentally inappropriate", I don't get to enjoy the smell so much. :wah:

We rake up our fallen leaves and stuff them in large orange plastic pumpkin bags right before Halloween and put them out in our front yard for decoration. After that, we mail them to Nomad.
