I can relate

Post by hoppy »

A new set of tires and a hot cup of joe,

are two of the thrills i have gotten to know.

Those days of adventure and drivin too fast,

seem so far away, how come they don't last?

Iv'e now joined the ranks of the easily amused

of livin too fast i cannot be accused.

I used to run fast like them folks on tv,

now all of my mail is from AARP.

My wife bought me hangers to hold up my jeans,

they tug at my shoulders, and cause me to lean.

I noticed my rump is as flat as a board,

and moved to the front where it cain't be ignored.

Iv'e now joined the ranks of the easily amused

of livin too fast i cannot be accused.

I used to run fast like them folks on tv,

now all of my mail is from AARP

I sat down one evenin, a six pack to tap,

woke up the next morn, five full on my lap.

Tried growin a beard, and trimmin it neat,

kids asked me for toys when i'd walk down the street.

Iv'e now joined the ranks of the easily amused

of livin too fast i cannot be accused.

I used to run fast like them folks on tv,

now all of my mail is from AARP.

I can relate

I can relate, I know how it feels

I remember fast cars and speeding wheels

I recall dancing all night, out so late

Wandering home, just before eight

Then work all day, until it's night

And out late again, home with dawn's light.

But nowadays the bones all ache

I'd rather stay home in slippers and bake

I watch TV, I'm no longer flirty

I'm in bed with my cocoa, before ten thirty

I hear the noise as kids go out on the town

And yell out "Turn that bloody racket DOWN!"

I always feel tired. I'm boring to know

And I've still got another 50 years to go! :o

:) How true.

“Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be, the last of life, for which the first was made. Our times are in his hand who saith, 'A whole I planned, youth shows but half; Trust God: See all, nor be afraid!'
