He's A Match!!!!

Just as I was boarding my plane back to Cleveland I got a call from my brother---he's so close of a match they thought we were TWINS!!!

I'M GETTING A KIDNEY!!!!!

He should be done testing by the end of November, and then they'll schedule my surgery. YAYYYY!

Because he's such a good match this kidney should last over 20 years, and I won't need to be on quite as many anti-rejection meds. Huzzah!!!!!!

You can't imagine the great reaction I caused in the people around me as I burst into tears in the middle of the gate, alternately shrieking and sobbing "I LOVE YOU! I CAN'T BELIEVE WE'LL BE KIDNEY BUDDIES!" A bunch of people moved away from me as though I was insane and the little girl next to me kept inching towards her mother. Hysterical but worth it! I will forever remember the Detroit airport with fondness.

Well his name is The Skipper. Technically it's "Stephen" but I've called him Skipper forever. He's turning 21 in October and he does systems and computer repair. Lives in the parents' basement. He has a sort of offensive and profane website here: http://www.garvinmusic.com/skip/

Does he freelance or work for someone else? We'll have to come up with something to keep him occupied while he's recovering....us geeks have to stick together, don't ya know..

He does a little of both. I'm pretty sure his recovery time will be spent playing Doom or looking at internet porn, although I have tried to get him interested in craigslist for possible at-home work he can do.
