Authorities: Tiger Woods seriously hurt in crash

Post by Jazzy »

ORLANDO, Fla. – Tiger Woods was seriously injured early Friday when he hit a fire hydrant and a tree near his Florida home, authorities said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the PGA star hit the fire hydrant and tree as he pulled out of his driveway in his 2009 Cadillac sport utility vehicle.

Woods was taken to Health Central Hospital. Officials there did not have record of him as a patient, though the news release said Woods' injuries were serious.

The highway patrol said the crash is still under investigation, and charges are pending. However, the highway patrol said the crash was not alcohol-related.

Woods, 33, owns a home in the exclusive subdivision of Isleworth near Orlando. Orange County property records indicate his home is valued at $2.4 million.

My bad then, was the impression I got. PS not a fan, in fact not a fan of any of them, just tired of how many people act like one is so biased while the "opposite" one is so great. They're all a joke.

From the NY Times:

Tiger Woods Said to Be in Good Condition After Car Crash

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Published: November 27, 2009

Filed at 6:41 p.m. ET

A local police chief in Florida says Tiger Woods' wife used a golf club to smash out the back window and helped get the golfer out of the car.

Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor told The Associated Press on Friday that Elin Nordegren told officers she was in the house when she heard the accident and came outside. Saylor says officers found Woods laying in the street with his wife hovering over him.

Police say Woods hit a fire hydrant and part of a tree early Friday. Saylor says Woods was in and out of consciousness when his officers arrived.

Saylor says Woods had cuts on his lips and blood in his mouth. He says his officers gave him first aid until fire rescue came about 10 minutes later.

Saylor says his officers do not believe alcohol was involved.

If Tiger Woods was "seriously hurt" while driving out of his driveway then people should sincerely look into buying nothing but trucks.

"seriously hurt"? "seriously hurt"? :yh_eyerol

Well they haven't disclosed all of the details I was just assuming he was drunk.

I mean, how many completely alert and sober people do you know manage to crash their vehicle driving out of their driveway let alone bleeding of the face leading to reports of "seriously hurt" do you know? :wah:

So then he stayed fixated in the middle of "the road" with the tail of his car protruding the other car "parked on the opposite side of the road"?

Was the horn of his car honking as, that I'd only presume, you scampered off to what then go to work? :wah:

Sounds more like he'd just had a massive row with his wife and slammed out of the house in a rage then floored the accelerator.

Well I thought that too but then I couldn't imagine someone with such a calm demeanor as him getting in such an escalated confrontation.

The fact that his wife "bashed the back of the windshield with a golf club to rescue him" was a bit concerning but then again we're talking about Tiger Woods here! :wah:

He just doesn't strike me as one to get into such a mean spirited "debate". :wah:

But,..oh well...

good to know, actually I did here more later last night that he was released last night, not today as they said earlier.

not sure why they thought he had to stay over night with just a few scratches.

and its funny to Bryn, as I have seen some idiots driving out of their driveways way to fast, so perhaps he was doing the same thing?

I have read that in the area where he lives, if a person is taken to hospital by ambulance, the condition is always stated as serious initially.

There have been reports that there was a row with his wife and she injured him and the car with a golf club. When the police arrived he was on the floor and she was standing over him with a golf club.

When the police arrived, she answered the door and said he was asleep and did not want to be disturbed!

Make of that what you will.

To knock yourself out for a significant amount of time he must have been doing a fair speed - far too quickly for pulling out of a drive and turning into road outside.

Nah, if he was not paying attention when he hit the hydrant, the airbags can pack quite a wallop. I been there.

Was working on a car, trying to figure out a problem in the dashboard when I crossed a connection to the airbag circuit.

Or, at least that is what my friend said after I came to.

The waiting continues with Woods

WINDERMERE, Fla. – Moments after pulling out of his driveway in the middle of the night, Tiger Woods drove his SUV over a fire hydrant and into a tree, causing injuries that sent him to the hospital to be treated.

The investigation of that mysterious crash has moved much more slowly.

Oh, I know. I have had a few chuckles at his expense over this, myself.

We have been following him since he appeared on the TONIGHT show all those years ago.

I can't help but think, though, how this is going to affect his life and his career.

well, he could never have backed up and driven that fast to hit those, unless he had the steering wheel turned by accident, then he would have hit them.

as you know yourself, backing up in your driveway, you can really only go so fast.

so there must be another explanation, I did hear something about 2 other reasons that will be heard tonight.

Looks like he may have over turned his wheel. Probably checking the phone..

That fire hydrant is a good 20 yards from where any vehicle would sit after adequately backing out of that driveway. If he hit the tree and hydrant head on then he'd have to be drunk. I don't know anyone not under the influence of alcohol that could manage to see something 20 yards in front of them and refrain from missing it let alone blatantly driving passed his driveway during the event.
