Texting gets the message across a lot more effectively. I might need to upgrade my phone sometime though, it only holds ten texts in the Inbox.

Talk. A text is never the same as a real voice.

My son's gal pal will be texting him while I'm talking to him and she's in the same room we are. I think that's being very rude. I hate cell phones.

Cell phones have their use-but they are usually misused. That is a rude example of it's use.
It is good for emergencies and sending of photos from far away. But I don't keep mine on me all the time anymore-I should but don't, it is too large to be a comfortable fit in my pocket.

You don't carry a handbag? I thought women always carried handbags and that handbags could take whatever was pushed into them.

:wah: Yes, but you can't carry your handbag around a classroom, and hope to hold onto your money and credit cards! That is just the facts of life-it is locked in my science storeroom, first time in 4 years I have brought it inside the school and not locked in the trunk. I had it stolen once, and watched online while they had a shopping spree at Walmart before the cards were canceled.
I do need it on me for emergency situations like my husband's health-I did not take it into a tae kwon do class last year, and he got sick and my son had to call the ambulance. I felt bad after class when I looked at it and saw 50 messages. :-1

I've never taken the time to learn texting or even using my cell as more than a phone, plus my fingers are too big for it. My kids text me often and I don't return the messages, but they understand.

I do both efficiently but neither while driving. :driving: Texting is cheaper in the long run if your watching minutes on your phone plan. You can get unlimited texting for $15 or $20 a month. Texting always goes through, sometimes calls don't at least they didn't with my old carrier Verizon.
I rather enjoy texting quick and simple if you have a full keyboard on your phone or an IPHONE actually fun.

I agree, its a rude example of its use.
I had my SIL over one day, she brought her cell phone to the table, it must have rung 12 times with a loud annoying song, she would immediately text back.
That was really rude of her to do, as each time we were talking, bingo!:-5
So anyone that comes in now? I tell them, leave your cell phone in the car.
Its no difference if I went out, if someone calls me, my answering machine will pick it up.
now that felt good to vent!:yh_rotfl

I have a cell phone that I use for emergencies and don't use it when I'm in public.
I am so sick of people constantly talking on their cell phones. Everywhere I go someone is using their phone, talking so loud. Who wants to hear their conversations????????????
I'm going to the supermarket in a bit. If that man or woman is there who constantly chatter on their phone.....I'm going to tell them to shut it off:D You can hear them talking 3 aisles away.

I talk, and that grudgingly, but I prefer SEEING others texting in public to HEARING them blabbering on about their private lives. :yh_ttth

Yes, that is rude, a person should not be texting when they have company.
I have my mobile on all the time. My friends and relatives send each other jokes and messages. I prefer to text if I don't have much time to speak but I do like making phone calls as well as you get more information and it is more personal.
